Deftones Album Closers Ranked

In my opinion the final song on the album has to be strong, even it's not the best. It has to leave the listener with a hunger to return to the album, a lingering taste in their mouth. The Deftones, in general, have some really strong album closers. List is ranking from best to worst.
1Deftones
White Pony

“Pink Maggit”
I’m probably in the minority of people who actually love the inclusion of “Mini Maggit (Back to School)” on recent cuts of the album. For me, it helps further the impact of its final (best?) song. If “Mini” is the mask you see on so many of these lost kids in school, then “Pink” is the removal of said mask, the reveal of the desire, loss, grief, and anger they hide from the world.
2Deftones
Around the Fur

"MX"
This song perfectly encapsulates the themes of lust, desire, and violence and are spread across the album. It’s heavy, sexy, and shows just how far Chino came as a vocalist between this and the previous effort.
3Deftones
Saturday Night Wrist

“Riviere”
The opposite of the album that preceded it. This song has plenty of atmosphere and yet it builds to this phenomenal crescendo. An excellent pick for the dreamscape that is this album.
4Deftones
Koi No Yokan

"What Happened to You?"
This is a weird one. This album felt like a period of sonic experimentation for the Deftones (“Goon Squad”, “Gauze”) and this song is no exception. In classic fashion is opens up during the chorus into something so joyful and wondrous you can’t help but roll down the windows and ride the wind with your hand.
5Deftones
Gore

“Rubicon”
This song must be massive live. Much like “This Place…” this song has so much energy in itself and it’s one of Gore’s best songs.
6Deftones
Diamond Eyes

“This Place is Death”
While this one doesn’t achieve what some of their other closers it does, what it lacks in crescendo it makes up for in palpable energy. This is the exact bookend they needed to reassure fans that they were ready to come back stronger than ever.
7Deftones
Ohms

"Ohms"
It’s good, but it also feels a little like they’re going through the motions on this one. Great chorus, but it doesn’t hit the highs as some of their others.
8Deftones
Deftones

“Moana”
It’s fine, but it doesn’t really go anywhere. It fails to grow to something because it starts at the same intensity as it ends. One of their most disappointing songs.
9Deftones
Adrenaline

“Fireal”
Cool atmospheric track but the vocal experimentation from Chino is a little much and doesn’t come across as it does on later tracks.
