WalrusTusk: Worst/Best Month for Music Releases and Discovery?

WalrusTusk 01.26.21	Really I bring this up because we're almost through January and I haven't listened to a new release that's wow'd me so.... give me some recs haha.
SAPoodle 01.27.21	I agree about January, I'm finding a lot of random stuff to listen to but none of it is really great.
WalrusTusk 01.27.21	Same. Even out of the two albums that I've been listening to, only one is really getting me to return to it (Typhoon). I'm just begging some artist to release an AOTY in January.
Klingel0905 01.28.21	In terms of freshly released albums i think december is the worst, bc no one wants to drop an album when everyone is already relinstening their favourite records of the year and making top lists. Beside that, january and summer is pretty weak, spring and fall is usually the best.
WalrusTusk 01.28.21	@Klinge it's interesting that you say that because I often find myself usually hunting for something fresh right at the end. So maybe my discovery is great these months but the release schedule isn't so hot.
Gyromania 01.28.21	lol i'm just about to make a list on january and how it's been a shite month for releases. i'm similar to you in that december is usually the month i binge a shit ton of music i've been missing all year. users are compiling their best of lists and i usually gravitate to the people whose opinions most closely resemble mine and almost always end up finding several really great records. i did like 80% of my music listening last year in december. i wanted to try to keep it going into january and beyond but there's only been one album so far this month i've given a 4 too, and even then it's a light 4

WalrusTusk 01.28.21	@Gyro I would agree with that. That's part of the reason why I usually release my list in January, because December is so filled with interesting recs and finds. @pika you're gonna have to hit me with some stuff because I haven't been wow'd by anything.
NorthernSkylark 01.28.21	As for seasons, I’d say spring and autumn are the best release periods. December is only good because of the catch up effect. January is a bitch.

WalrusTusk 01.28.21	I'd thought about exploring all the months and pooling through data, but then I also realized that I didn't care that much and really just wanted to talk about how January is such a terrible month for new music. @Northern I'd say that's probably accurate. I also just enjoy listening to new music in the fall more. Time to kinda recluse a little and be able to focus on the music and how it feels.

WalrusTusk 01.28.21	That's actually insane. I don't know how you listen to so much in one month and DIGEST it. That isn't a diss btw. I'm legit impressed.
gschwen 01.28.21	Have a WFH job that doesn't require being on a phone. I can listen to a dozen albums a day and repeat anything I'm on the fence about.
WalrusTusk 01.28.21	I can do maybe two a day if I'm really in the zone. That's wild haha.
