Tragedy and the Music to Get Through

This year has been all sorts of fucked up. Besides Covid and the general unease with society as a whole, mainly here in the States, I lost my sister to breast cancer October 3rd and my best friend to an accidental overdose on November 7th. As I've learned to cope with the trauma of losing my sister and the person I trusted the most, I've done what I've always done: turn to music. I have kind of strayed away from music the last couple of years. My interest in it has completely wained to the point of indifference towards something that defined my youth. This whole experience has helped me rediscover my love for certain things that I had seemed to forget brought me so much joy, and in these cases, the actual therapy I needed. These are probably the 10 songs I keep going back to when life has decided I needed more pain. Here's to hoping all of you are well, and I know it's corny and cheesy and if any of you remember how I used to be on Sputnik, completely out of character, but please remember to tell the people you're closest to just how much they fucking matter, because you will regret doing it when all you have is a memory.

A relatively new addition, while I'm not the biggest fan of the song's climax, that opening spoken word section floored me
