AEW Full Gear - ***SPOILERS***

Watched the All Elite Wrestling Full Gear PPV with my daughter last night. It was a good show, better than their last PPV, although I won't say it was their best of the year.
1Deeb
Trouble In Paradise (Inspired by 'The Outlaw...)

Buy-in
Sereena Deeb (c) def. Allysin Kaye, defending NWA women's title

Decent match, well fought, but we had absolutely no build up to this. I was familiar with Allysin Kaye from watching the NWA on YouTube, but the casual AEW fan would have never seen her before. After the match, Thunder Rosa came out for a stare down w/Deeb.
2Omega Infinity
Solar Spectre

Kenny Omega def. Hangman Adam Page in AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament finals

Weirdly, although this was the opener, I thought this was the best match of the night. As former tag team partners, they each constantly predicted and countered the other's moves. I'm guessing Page will now go completely down the dark hole of alcoholism, they'll do a rehab angle, and someday in the future, Page will make his triumphant return to win the championship. Meanwhile, Omega now will get his title match.
3Code Orange
Underneath

Orange Cassidy def. John Silver (Dark Order # 4)

Very good match, funny but well fought. The highlight was when Silver, in complete frustration with Cassidy's antics, pulled Cassidy's hands out of his pocket and proceeded to rip the pockets out of Cassidy's pants and eat them.
4The Darbies
The Darbies

Darby Allin def. Cody Rhodes (c) for the AEW TNT Championship

An emotional match. Cody seemed to be dominating Darby, and at one point, both he and Arn Anderson repeatedly ordered him to "Stay down". He didn't of course, and eventually he reversed a move and won the title. Cody graciously presented it to him, but they were then both attacked by Team Taz, who dragged Darby out to the parking lot and tried to break his arm with his own car door. Luckily, Will Hobbs made the save before they were able to. Very good match, although the Team Taz attack scene was a little hokey.
5Hikari no Itoguchi
Untitled

Hikaru Shida (c) def. Nyla Rose, defending AEW Women's title

Decent rematch, although the best parts mostly involved the shrill shrieks and interference attempts of Vickie Guerrero. Shida pinned her, and afterwards, Guerrero upbraided Rose and slapped her in the face. Rose looked like she was going to destroy her, but then hung her head and just took it. I'm kind of done with Shida as champion, though. I was hoping Rose would regain the title.
6Young Buck
Buck the World

The Young Bucks def. FTR (c) for the AEW Tag Team Championship

Excellent match, much better than the awkward build up to it led me to believe it would be (with the Bucks embarrassing semi-heel turn and the Matt Jackson injured ankle angle.) Early on, Dax Harwood injured his fist by accidentally punching the ring post, evening out the injury sweepstakes. The match was back and forth and action packed. This was the other contender for best match of the night.
7Delete
Predatory Things of a Minute

Matt Hardy def. Sammy Guevara in the Elite Deletion Match

This was funny at times, and brutal at times, but overall, it was just too ridiculous. It was a cinematic match, and brought in a lot of characters from Hardy's past (with whom I wasn't familiar). It was also a match almost nobody wanted, given the history of actual injuries that have happened every time these two guys have fought. Highlight - Hardy chasing Sammy around the Hardy compound in the dark, and shooting him in the ass with a roman candle. But overall, this match was the low point of the PPV, almost (but not quite) as bad as the last PPV's Britt Baker-Big Swole cinematic match. Private Party and Santana and Ortiz were also involved in this one. Hopefully, Sammy can now move on to better things. As for Matt, I don't dislike him, but I'm starting to think the stories he wants to tell just aren't for me (except, perhaps, on Being the Elite).
8Inner Circle
State of the World

MJF def. Chris Jericho (MJF wins the right to join The Inner Circle)

I loved the build up to this match, especially their joint musical number at The Dinner Debonair. This was a good match, with both men cheating throughout. In the end, MJF tricked Jericho and was able to pin him, and they shook hands as Jericho welcomed MJF into The Inner Circle. There was tension, though, between Wardlow and Jake Hagar, which I'm sure we'll see more of in a future angle. As for Jericho and MJF, these two continue to be great together.
9Fuck It...I Quit
Demo 2016

John Moxley (c) def. Eddie Kingston in an "I Quit" match, defending the AEW World Championship title

Kingston is great on the mic, but I just can't take his little apple dumpling body serious as a title contender. I'm also a little played out with matches that involve the participants repeatedly pulling the same old hardcore stuff out from under the ring. Oh look, Kingston has a chair. Oh look, Moxley has a barbed wire bat. Oh look, Kingston has a bag of thumb tacks and a bottle of rubbing alcohol. Oh, look, Moxley has a gun, and he just shot Kingston's knee caps out. In the end, the only way I believe Kingston really would have quit was if Moxley had pulled Kingston's tied-up mother out from under the ring and threatened to throw her on the thumb tacks. And even then, it would be 50/50. But Moxley choked Kingston out with a strand of barbed wire, Kingston said "I quit," and Moxley retained his title. Bring on Kenny Omega.
