I don't know if I'm asexual or something (which means, yeah, I'm probably not) but for a few years at least I've had a very hard time engaging with music that deals with the typical topics of romantic and sexual relationships. Rec me stuff like the below, preferably sadboy/sadgirl indie stuff where they're sad about something other than a breakup. I like Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker well enough musically but from what I've heard they pretty much exemplify what I dislike about the current trends.
Love the music but often way too romantic.
Give Big Thief’s U.F.O.F. a shot if you haven’t. Beautiful folk with a touch of other stuff around the edges, and an ethereal melancholy atmosphere with ruminations of mortality and the cosmos. Perfect record, for me. Atmosphere’s to die for. (Couple songs touch on romantic stuff, but it’s the minority)
Oh yeah, I listened to them awhile back but forgot about them, will check definitely.
Ben Howard’s Noonday Dream is excellent as well
yep one of my favorites
Oh fuck yeah, Mate. That guitar effect on Nica Libres that sounds like circling birds right after the "Eagles soar in circles" line puts my heart in throat
I'm pretty sure Bradford Cox of Deerhunter is asexual, and he has a ton of sad songs not about love
Halcyon Digest is a must by Deerhunter, that and Microcastle
townes van zandt has a lot of depressing songs not related to love
Moses Sumney - Aromanticism!! Haha! I’ll try and think of something later
check like all of i am kloot's discog (start with sky at night or let it all in)
