07.09.20 | Jack Johnson
Sketches
In a Silent Way
Are prob my top 3
E.S.P. Is also really great and usually overlooked
|
MementoMori
07.09.20 | @WeepingBanana: No BB? Although I can understand sketches, that would be number six for me personally. E.S.P. never appealed to me that much. |
Sharkattack
07.09.20 | Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you
And everything you do
Yeah they were all yellow
I came along
I wrote a song for you
And all the things you do
And it was called "Yellow"
So then I took my turn
Oh what a thing to have done
And it was all yellow
Your skin
Oh yeah, your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
You know, you know I love you so
You know I love you so
I swam across
I jumped across for you
Oh what a thing to do
'Cause you were all yellow
I drew a line
I drew a line for you
Oh what a thing to do
And it was all yellow
Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
And you know
For you I'd bleed myself dry
For you I'd bleed myself dry
It's true
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine
Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you
And all the things that you do

07.09.20 | Sketches of Spain!!! |
notagenius
07.09.20 | It's hard for me to rank.
But Bitches Brew is definitely my top one. |
MementoMori
07.09.20 | @Sharkattack: Ah yes, a Coldplay reference. Well done. I must say, those lyrics are even more deeply asinine and uninspired than I imagined Coldplay lyrics generally are.
@El_newg: honorable number six. |
JustJoe.
07.09.20 | “sketches of spain” is my favorite |
MementoMori
07.09.20 | @JustJoe.: I mean, that's probably fair, although I think Bitches Brew is definitely a more unique and expansive project. |
JustJoe.
07.09.20 | that one is my second favorite no worries bruh
👍 |
Trifolium
07.09.20 | Omg all of them for number 1.
Kind Of Blue is my 1, Bitches Brew my two and In A Silent Way my 3. After that it's hard to rank them ooof. So much to choose from. Really like Someday My Prince Will Come too. |
ReefaJones
07.09.20 | Get Up With It is one of his best but sadly it's underrated |
MementoMori
07.09.20 | @Trifolium: That's pretty fair.
@ReefaJones: Get Up... is pretty decent, but I don't think it holds up well to his titular pieces. |
Sharkattack
07.09.20 | On the corner though |
MementoMori
07.09.20 | @Sharkattack: That record is pretty excellent as well, as is workin' and Milestones, but I don't think it's as consistently great or unique as any release on this list, or even SOS for that matter. |

07.10.20 | Miles trumpet style playing is unique. My Top 5+2 is;
Kind of Blue
Bitches Brew
Star People
Round About Midnight
Sketches of Spain
Decoy/Aura
...Miles is a true genius artist imo. |
Zig
07.10.20 | Miles rules. 1 is 1. My Top 3:
Bitches Brew, Jack Johnson, In a Silent Way. |
Trifolium
07.10.20 | Freelord and Zig know!!! |
notagenius
07.10.20 | Kind of Blue is an absolute classic, But I don't really listen to it, I haven't heard it in 5 years.
But Bitches Brew, Tutu, In A Silent Way and the early bebop soundtrack ascenseur pour l'échafaud, I listen to them almost every month.
So it's like, I really like Miles Davis but I'm indifferent to talk about Kind of Blue. |
WeepingBanana
07.10.20 | I honestly haven't listened to BB in so long, but it never really connected and I couldn't tell you why. Definitely overdue for a revisit. I try and revisit my favorite Miles albums a couple times a year and every time I do I find something new about it I love. Especially Jack Johnson whew boy does that record rip |
MementoMori
07.10.20 | @FR33L0RD: Miles is a musical genius for sure. Interesting to see your perspective on this matter.
@Zig: This is a pretty excellent ranking I can certainly respect. |
WeepingBanana
07.11.20 | Glad to see people showing up for JJ. Hard to imagine an album where all moving parts converge in a more excellent way than that one |
Trifolium
07.11.20 | I must confess I've never heard it before. Put it on my list to check, sounds promising! |
