The Head On The Door songs ranked
I don't know why but felt compelled to make this |

Close To Me
A classic for a reason. Some people dislike Robert's vocals on this but I think he conveys the track's emotional core really well |
2 | | The Cure The Head on the Door
Inbetween Days
Not quite as good as it's hyped up to be, but still great. All the hooks are super catchy but I just don't feel the same emotional connection here as I do on Close To Me and one other track that's coming later |

Six Different Ways
The first 40 seconds are kind of awkward, but after that it's amazing. I like the rest of the song more than Inbetween Days but that one's great the whole way through so it still gets the number 2 spot |
4 | | The Cure The Head on the Door
Kyoto Song
The other track here that I really feel emotionally. I can just picture Robert waking up in cold sweat and his partner reassuring him that it was all a bad dream |
5 | | The Cure The Head on the Door
Sinking
Simon gets to really shine here with a great bass riff that carries the whole song. With some gorgeus synth melodies on top of that we get a great song that just doesn't feel quite as climatic as it wants to. Plus Robert is really pushing it with those high notes |
6 | | The Cure The Head on the Door
Push
Kind of weird structurally (in a bad way) with the vocals coming in so late, but otherwise just another great song |
7 | | The Cure The Head on the Door
A Night Like This
A super corny track but Robert sings it with such conviction that I can't help but still vibe with it. And that sax solo is fun but out of place |
8 | | The Cure The Head on the Door
The Blood
I'm not really into this style and that's not helped by the song being sandwiched between some of my favourite tracks on the album. It's still pretty well done so I don't have a huge problem with it |
9 | | The Cure The Head on the Door
Screw
It's kind of fun but feels out of place as the penultimate track |
10 | | The Cure The Head on the Door
The Baby Screams
I just don't really like this one. It feels like a demo in the middle of well thought out pop songs |
