Kanye ranked

I recently went through his discog for the first time and have now listened to all of his albums at least a couple times, so here's my ranking
13Sunday Service Choir
Jesus Is Born

Why the fuck does this exist? Kanye clearly doesn't understand gospel music even nearly deeply enough to an 84 minutes long album of it. As a result the whole album just sounds incredibly homogeneous and dull.
1,5/5
Best tracks: There was one song I liked but I have no idea which one it was and there's no way in hell that I'm ever gonna listen to this whole thing again.
12Kanye West
Jesus Is King

This was the first album by Kanye that I heard in full and Jesus Christ was it a bad place to start. But then after listening to the rest of his catalog I thought, "Ultralight Beams" is one of my favourites by him so this can't be that bad. Nah, it was just as bad as I remembered. There was clearly an ambitious idea here, but the album was way too rushed for that vision to come into fruition. "Closed On Sunday" is one of the worst songs I've ever heard
2/5
Best tracks: "Selah", "Follow God", "Use This Gospel"

Cruel Summer

Eh.
3/5
Best Tracks: I don't remember a single one of these songs but I think I liked "Creepers" so I guess that one?
10Kanye West
808s and Heartbreak

While I find this to be one of Kanye's worst albums, I also find it one of his most interesting ones. He pushed the boundaries of popular music harder than ever on this album and the effects can be seen to this day. Too bad that I just don't find most of it very pleasant to listen to.
3/5
Best tracks: "Say You Will", "Love Lockdown", "Paranoid"

Graduation

This was a fresh new sound at the time of its release and I there isn't too much that sounds like it even to this day, but the songs are just so god damn uninteresting. The production is so nice is just begging for something interesting to be rapped on top of it but the only topic Kanye can come up with here is how great he is. And that wouldn't even be a problem if he wasn't so terrible at flexing. This is mainly just pleasant to hear in the background. Except for "Drunk and Hot Girls", fuck that song.

Best tracks: "Stronger", "I wonder"

Watch the Throne

This is probably the most uninteresting a Kanye-album has ever sounded. Nothing just grabs me and it all feels like it exist just to show everyone else that Kanye and Jay are at the top of the hill that we call rap music. The production is of course great and there are some good bars here and there but I feel like the songwriting is extremely lackluster.

Yeezus

It's weird how some songs here haven't aged a day, and some are "Blood On The Leaves". Seriously there's a reason where left those air horns in the past. The whole album is similarly abrasive, but most of it is in a more creative and less annoying way. Lyrically Kanye is at his worst here. He is super unwitty and ends up just constantly embarrassing himself. But I do still quite like this, at least it's mcreative and sounds like Kanye had a lot of fun making it.

Best Tracks: "On Sight", "I Am A God"

ye

Yeah I really like it that much. Obviously the production sounds quite raw and even unfinished, but I feel like that's part of the album's charm. Kanye is talking about his mental health issues and insecurities as a father, and the raw and intimate sound just fits that better than the grandeur of MBDTF or TLOP would have. And I know that at least parts of the album are ghost written but that doesn't change my opinion on it.
3,5/5
Best Tracks: "Yikes", "violent Crimes"
5Kanye West
The College Dropout

I don't have a ton to say about this one. It's great and all but not just really my style. Kanye's lyrics are also j´really boring for the most part, but maybe that's better than if they were straight up bad like on a lot of his later projects. Also the skits are trash and "last Call" goes on just WAY too long.
4/5
Best tracks: "We Don't Care"
4Kanye West
The Life of Pablo

This is such a frustrating album. It had all the makings of a masterpiece but then Kanye just had to go and pump it full of useless crap. The best songs here are easily among Kanye's best, but what purpose do tracks like "Father Strech My Hands" and "Highlights" even hold? With "Facts" and "Fade" I get why they exist but they're just straight up bad. But the best moments here easily outshine the worst ones. The production here is just godly and some of Ye's most emotional tracks are here. The album feels like a mental breakdown, but unfortunately that includes the bad parts.
4/5
Best tracks: "Ultralight Beam", "Feedback", "FML", "Real Friends"
3Kanye West
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

While I definitely see the hype, I still think that this is quite a flawed album, even more so than a lot of fans say it is. The bridge on "Dark Fantasy" sounds horrendous, "Gorgeus" is muddy as hell, Fergie is as terrible as ever, Jay-Z's verses are kind of trash, "Runaway" is way better without that outro and Chris Rock is extremely unfunny. But despite all that the highlights of the album are just undeniable. Despite the questionable mixing the production is just absolutely amazing, Kanye has never sounded better and has some pretty great lyrics too and the album is maybe the most cohesive he has done so far. And despite the few bad guests most of the featured artists bring their best to the table, especially Pusha-T on "Runaway" and Bon Iver on both tracks he's on.
4,5/5
Best tracks: "Dark Fantasy", "POWER", "Runaway", "Lost In The World"
2Kids See Ghosts
Kids See Ghosts

Kanye's most consistently great album since the one I have ranked above it. The production is amazing, lyrics hit hard and both rappers sound good. This is the only Cudi album I've heard so I can't compare this to his other work but for Kanye this is absolutely near the top.
4,5/5
Best tracks: "Feel The Love", "Fire", "Kids See Ghosts"
1Kanye West
Late Registration

Maybe it's just because I'm not much of hip hop-fan but the natural instrumentation here just grabbed me way more than any other Kanye-album's music, besides a few highlights on Pablo. He's also at the top of his game lyrically here, with emotionally charged songs about his family and actually clever wordplay on the more fun tracks. Maybe the biggest achievement here is that Ye somehow made Adam Levine sound good "Heard 'Em Say".
4,5/5
Best tracks: "Crack Music", "Roses", "Addiction"
