This album is where RtJ solidified their sound, constructing a collection of apocalyptic dance hall songs. This album is just banger after banger. There are hardly any duds on this.

I enjoyed this album a lot on first listen, and while I’m still working through it I think, even if it had been released at a different period of time, it would still hit as hard as it does. It’s hard to listen “a few words for the firing squad” or “walking in the snow” without feeling the weight of their words, and the message is a little more concise than it is on previous efforts.Still, I didn't leave it feeling blown away like I did with 3.

I love the lightning in a bottle energy on this first one. “A Christmas Fuckin’ Miracle” and “DDFH” were two of the first songs I heard by these guys, and I think I hold this one a little higher than 2 just because it was my first love.

There’s nothing wrong with this one. It bangs. It’s got good songs, it just doesn’t feel as consistent or as easy to return to as the others.
