Psych evaluations can only go so far. I think they main thing we can do is immediately fire cops that suck, which for the most part, is what's being done. Someone really just needs to bring better solutions to the table, if possible. Body cams are a huge game changer... do all cities use those now? If there was a way to make those publicly available by blurring out citizens' faces and names, that would be neat. Not sure about the legality of that, since it's used as evidence, though. IDK, it's complicated, and a protest alone isn't going to accomplish hardly anything.

A lot of time, in the instances where cops are actually charged, the charges are mostly for show. And this dude had what, like 30 complaints against him? Very common. He should have been fired on complaint number three. This is the part where he should be in prison for the rest of his life. If this was true, then if this majority of "good cops" quit the force in response to something like this then the force would be ravaged and understaffed and forced to listen and change. they would not be able to operate. i think you are correct that the reality of the situation is that there aren't that many "good cops". not enough that it would be very impactful if the "good cops" quit the force. which is why my comments should be read with a level of facetiousness. however, this means that a) there are a lot more than "a few" bad apples, or b) there are no good cops because no "good cop" would follow these orders. i still think morally, any good cop should refuse to violently engage in these protests, regardless of whether or not there is enough of them to instigate change. and since that is not happening i think there are no good cops. at least in the areas in question.

I was just driving through Uptown an hour ago and luckily it seems like most small businesses are still safe and open. Apple, sephora, Wells Fargo, and target not so much, but I can honestly care less about them. The only thing that I was upset about was the Walgreens being looted, because that's a really important fixture in the community. The increased aggression of our police force has only caused a bigger fracture between the police and the community. Seeing humvees, prison busses, and whatever the giant fucking tank truck that passed me yesterday doesn't make me feel safer, It makes me more frustrated if anything. Crazy to me that even near northern towns they're imposing curfews

The majority of us are in violent agreement but lines are getting really blurry. Peaceful protest and criminal activity are 2 different things entirely. So in the end no cops are really doing anything.

What will happen is, you will quit, you will struggle to find another way to support your family because being a cop is probably the only thing you know how to do, the rest of the good cops will remain in law enforcement and the system will remain unchanged with the only difference is that you've now made a personal sacrifice that can only hinder your personal life. This kind of collective idealistic unification of all good cops is almost impossible just due to people's inherent self-serving nature, so if you are a good cop you don't have much choice but to stay within that system and I guess do your best not to get corrupted by it. If collective overthrowing of institutions from within were that easy I'd think we'd be in a much different world right now. Another way of looking at it is, if the good cops themselves truly believe that the majority of the cops are good cops and there are only a few bad apples, why would all of the good cops resign in an attempt to change the system if they truly believe that it is only a few select seperate incidents of abuse of power and not a systematic problem that would require an entire revolution.

The system is corrupt and abused from the bottom up against blacks, whites and hispanics. Sure, there has historically been many incidents and a high amount of unjust killing of unarmed black people by law enforcement but the rate of these instances has fallen tremendously since 2015.
