Some overlooked 2020 releases

Some overlooked/underrated albums that were released this year. Happy quarantine.
1Away Forward
Catching the Sun

Really pleasant little record, nothing too inventive but the title sums it up perfectly; ideal for catching the sun.

Dream pop
Recommended track: Stakes

2Bell Plaines
Through Fog

I mean.. I wrote a review for it so obviously I'll have to plug it again, but this record is seriously so good and more people need to hear it! Perfect relaxation/meditation album.

Post rock / shoegaze
Recommended track: Waves

3Sullii
Me and My Absent Mind

One of the best emo trap records I have ever heard, it's insanely catchy and surprisingly uplifting at times. It's Crook's vocalist's new project, dude has very unique vocals and knows how to craft a hook.

Emo / trap
Recommended track: Forgetter

4AVEC
Homesick

While the first three tracks are a tad bland, this record really picks up after these and provides some of the best indie rock of the year. Quite an improvement over her first album and surprisingly dark for how fun it sounds.

Indie rock
Recommended track: Way Out (Seriously, if you check anything make it this song, so damn good!)
5Misterus
Daydream II

Okay, fine, the music is not as good as the album cover, but it's still a very rewarding listen. Some of the cutest black metal ever.

Blackgaze
Recommended track: Beyond

6The Orielles
Disco Volador

Super fun record, the songs probably shouldn't be as long as they are but who cares when this disco garage goddamn dream pop endeavour throws wonderful curveballs such as out-of-the-blue saxophone solos at you?

Indie pop
Recommended track: Rapid i

7Deserta
Black Aura My Sun

Simply some beautiful shoegaze; one of those albums where the cover art says it all.

Shoegaze
Recommended track: Save Me

8Oberst
Paradise

One of my favourite hardcore releases of the year so far, very straightforward and catchy. Really surprised this band isn't getting more attention in general.

Hardcore / punk
Recommended track: Vagabonds
