| Here's my band.
So, I used to frequent this site years ago. Since then, I've dropped in here and there, but it hasn't been the online home it used to be. If you remember me from back in the day, you remember I talked about writing music in the style of a blackened post-rock-inflected screamo, and even though I'm late posting it here by nearly a year, it did, in fact, happen. So here's a list of our debut EP, as well as some of our key influences. Enjoy. We'll be releasing a four-band split with Nashville black metal homies Nocturnal Pulse, Murfreesboro sludge bros Hooch Head, and one-man North Carolina blackgaze sweetheart Tanpopo Crisis before recording our debut full-length LP. | 1 | | Daedalus Striations

Well, here it is. The other members of this band are not just my best friends of nearly a decade, but people I wholeheartedly consider family. | 2 | | Deafheaven Sunbather
We named ourselves after a Deafheaven song, so ye, we're obviously influenced by the hipster black metal posterbois. The idea of the band actually started the night of a Deafheaven show our vocalist, Adam, and I attended early 2017. We'd been in bands together before, but after that show, we looked at each other and knew we wanted to try again. | 3 | | Converge Jane Doe
Are you a hardcore band if you aren't influenced by Converge? | 4 | | Daitro Laisser Vivre Les Squelettes | 5 | | Daughters You Won't Get What You Want | 6 | | Oathbreaker Rheia | 7 | | Slowdive Souvlaki | 8 | | Envy All the Footprints You've Ever Left and the Fear Expecting Ahead | 9 | | Respire Denouement | 10 | | Frail Body A Brief Memoriam

Playing a show with these cowpokes was unforgettable. Beautiful people, and phenomenally talented musicians. | 15 | | Saetia A Retrospective | 16 | | Altar of Plagues Teethed Glory and Injury | 17 | | Poison the Well The Opposite of December | 18 | | Cult Leader A Patient Man | 19 | | meth. 03.13.20 | Okay, so I checked out the EP. Hope you'll forgive me for not having a deeper critique, but again: not really my genre.
It was really good, I like the post-hardcore influence. "Gambler's Ruin" and "Deep Roller" in particular were cool.
Anyone that likes any of the bands you've listed here would probably really enjoy it. Good luck going forward, let the people here know if you have another EP/album out at some point. I'm sure they'd like it. | SitarHero

No you didn't. You may have been inspired by a Deafheaven song but you named yourself after a character from Greek mythology. | JustinKing
03.13.20 | @Sitar
We actually are all Greek mythology nerds. We all know the Icarus story and the creation of the maze, but we kinda just dropped mentioning that part of us naming ourselves when we realized how few people we came in contact with recognized it (90% of people thought we took it from the Thrice song, literally the vocalist from The Callous Daoboys has been the only person to bring up the mythology), so we just tell everyone we took it from Deafheaven. When we were coming up with band names, we scrolled across the song, and I looked at Adam and said, "Wait, think about it. How must it have felt knowing your son got precisely what he wanted, was so overjoyed by it, but it was still what ended him? Are you proud of him, or are you still angry and upset at that he wasn't better?" When we sat for a second, we knew we found our name. So, ye, inspired by the song, pretentious deeper meaning taken from the mythology. | JustinKing
03.13.20 | @Sandwich Thank you so much! Deep Roller is actually the track I'm most proud of, and Gambler's was the first song I wrote upon us forming the band. I'm glad you enjoyed it, it's always great to hear an outsider opinion! | zaruyache
