That build up in what could be their best song hooked me instantly. Introducing new elements left, right and centre at breakneck speed, fading them in and out and reintroducing them again when least expected this track is a clear sign of their genius. Still find new details here after so many years of intensive listening. Gets me hyped every time. Everything everything.

Always liked drum n bass but was more into the jazzy styles, was always intrigued by ‘dark drum n bass’. This album really got me into it, and this track I remember firing up with the sirens, pure sci fi adrenaline rush

Over the last decade I’d be surprised if I’ve spent listening to any other album than this and I’ve probably run near enough the length of the circumference of the planet to it in that time (best running album, esp night running). Solid doofcore.

I was somewhat afraid of this subgenre earlier because of the name and subject, but in the end my curiosity won. I saw this album on the Black Metal Promotion II YouTube channel, and gave it a listen. And it was an overwhelming experience, how different and "captivating" it was! A different album from my picture about BM in general - it was slow, melancholic, dark, emotional and oddly "relaxing" - I can't really describe the feeling.

I especially liked this song: short, no vocals, just a distorted beauty.

My Mom had the Songs in the Key of Life CD and I knew it was critically acclaimed (and I knew the hits "I Wish" "Sir Duke" and "Isn't She Lovely" already of course,) so I decided to toss it on when I was like 16? and the opener was an immediate cue for me to love soul. Since then, artists like Stevie, Minnie Riperton, D'Angelo, Sly and the Family Stone... etc are close to my heart.

I'm gonna go Wilhelm Scream as a band that brought me to modern punk rock, and I believe they were the first band I saw at the Triple Rock in Minneapolis, the old punk bar here. They're probably the first modern punk band that I ever listened to and completely fell in love with. The more complicated song structure (for punk) spoke to my metal loving ass, and it was important in making that much needed transition away from the metal crowd.

A few years ago I was searching through my parents garage and found this LP lying there. Back then I used to only listen to punk and metal, but this album changed that. From hearing the title track, I went through all my parents old LP's and found more and more classics(Talking Heads, The Cure, Fleetwood Mac) which made me realize there are so many old albums I had not heard off. That also made me go search up more music, which led me to this site. This still gives me chills after all those years, a stone cold classic in pop.

I used to work in a record shop in my teens and this record I fell in love with so much that the owner had to order it at least six times, cause I overused the first copy we had playing it in the store and gave the others away to friends. I then went behind his back and ordered the thing on shop's account a few more times, which is how I got fired (well, that and the fact that I was also stealing his money).

This is the song that made me first realize I loved symphonic metal. I've rec'd the live version from a Wembley Stadium show that I think catches the electricity of the piece. (And believe it or not actually cuts a few minutes off of the run time vs. the studio version.) For me, this is the most exciting piece of music of the last decade.

This only happened fairly recently. This awesome festival in my hometown, Le Guess Who?, booked Oumou Sangare, also dubbed ''The Songbird of Wassoulou''. Didn't know this West-African genre at all, but it rules. Her older albums are even better probably, but I love this updated version of her sound and her voice is truly divine.
