Ashtiel 07.08.19	i don't know if they were actually japanese @GhandhiLion but I recall something of theirs having japanese characters in the album title. also negative to any of the stuff so far, I do remember that their latest album I saw (released in 2018 or 2017...) had a cover involving a UFO crashed into the ground in the middle of a street and the colors were predominantly blue. dunno if that helps at all but I appreciate the help so far

Kurutta Taiyou is their post-punk holy grail according to many people, but I'd highly recommend Darker than Darkness and One Life, One Death (second half of that album is incredible and probably comes closest to the mix of genres you mentioned in the description) Calculating wrote a handy guide here: https://www.sputnikmusic.com/album.php?reviewid=49865&page=12#comments
