Weekly DiscoRuns 2: Opeth

Week number two. JohnnyoftheWell was the winner from last week and chose Opeth for this weeks discorun. Rules are below
1Opeth
Ghost Reveries

I will do a full discography run each week and you guys get to choose which band I'll tackle.
2Avantasia
Moonglow

I will individually rate every song (or a top 100 if there are more, since Sput doesn't allow the lists to be longer than that). Guess what my top 10 is going to be. You get a point for each song that's in the list, and three points for each song that is in the correct spot.
3Glen Hansard
This Wild Willing

The person that has the most points wins and gets to choose out of these five bands for me to do next week. He/she also gets to choose a band that replaces it in the list, so the winner always has five bands to choose from. This week JohnnyoftheWell chose: Opeth
4Kendrick Lamar
good kid, m.A.A.d city

A couple of small rules:
- When a winner wants to add a band to next weeks list, keep in mind my personal preference. I'm not going to listen to five+ albums of a band I don't enjoy. It needs to be at least on average 3-worthy to me. If you want to add a band I don't know, I will take a listen to a couple of songs to see if I accept it.
- LP's only. I'm not going to listen to every demo/EP the band has released. Exceptions can occur when a EP has significant value in the bands discography (for instance, with The Dear Hunter I did include 'The Color Spectrum'). If you want me to include bonus-tracks, say so beforehand. By default I will not include them.
- I will always try to tackle all the albums in a given week. However, I am not going to be able to listen to all 22 Jethro Tull albums. If I feel a band has too many albums, I will ask you to make a selection.
5Tool
Lateralus

So with all that, let's get started with this weeks Discography run: 'Opeth'. Vote for what you think my top 10 is going to be. I will cover the following albums:
- Orchid
- Morningrise
- My Arms, Your Hearse
- Still Life
- Blackwater Park
- Deliverance
- Damnation
- Ghost Reveries
- Watershed
- Heritage
- Pale Communion
- Sorceress
6Melt-Banana
Fetch

Number 1 is this weeks run, rest of the list is the five the winner get's to choose from.
7Opeth
Blackwater Park

Number 10: Bleak
Blackwater Park as an album has sooooo much to give, and the first two songs show precisely why. Just another fantastic song overal with no weak points.
8Opeth
Watershed

Number 9: Heir Apparent
Calling best guitar solo right here! Entire song is fantastic, but that solo is where it's at!
9Opeth
Damnation

Number 8: Hope Leaves
I always imagine that this song can drive a big strong man to tears. Its so gorgeous and haunting and sad and perfect.
10Opeth
Deliverance

Number 7: Deliverance
The final three minutes is surely one of my farovites in all of Opeth's songs, but the entire song is amazing tbf. So heavy and blasting yet so atmospheric at the same time.
11Opeth
Blackwater Park

Number 6: The Drapery Falls
One I have very fond memories of. Goddamn this is so hard to rate. Is this better than Demon of the Fall? Well then, what about Deliverance?
12Opeth
My Arms, Your Hearse

Number 5: Demon of the Fall
Opeth's first true masterpiece if you ask me. So tightly written and brutal, yet the 'Run away' feel so like a pure plea that it turns really sad too. And that acoustic bit before 'DEMON' is so fucking manacing, really edge of your seat stuff.
13Opeth
Ghost Reveries

Number 4: Reverie / Harlequin Forest
This had to go into my top 10. Its one of my favorite Opeth songs and goes through so many movements and passages that are all almost equally amazing.
14Opeth
Blackwater Park

Number 3: The Leper Affinity
My god this song is seriously top tier GOAT list material in music overall.
15Opeth
Ghost Reveries

Number 2: Ghost of Perdition
I'm in such a struggle to put this at my number 1 or not. It is my favorite Opeth song for sure, but I think BWP might be just a tad better.
16Opeth
Blackwater Park

Number 1: Blackwater Park
One of the best songs ever written imo. Some might call it overrated, but this song makes me feel things man.
