An album about loneliness I made in Japan

In January 2015 I moved to Japan. At the time my Japanese language skills were terrible and I was overwhelmed by a sense of isolation different from anything I’d experienced before in my life. I was surrounded by places I wanted to go, things I wanted to do, and most of all people I wanted to meet. However, the language and cultural barrier was like a glass wall seperating me from those things that seemed just out of reach. On top of this, shortly after I arrived in Japan my mom contacted me to let me know my dog died. I had very few friends and nobody around me to vent to, and with no musical instruments in my luggage besides a laptop I tried to express my feelings of isolation through music. Thankfully after a few months of taking language classes my Japanese improved enough that I met an amazing girl who I’ve been with for almost four years now. Despite her not speaking English we instantly connected. I ended up coming back to the US for a while in 2017 to finish my bachelor’s degree, and the last song on here was a birthday present for my girlfriend who was still in Japan. I recently rediscovered these songs because I have been recording a demo EP for my emo/screamo/post-rock/post-hardcore project and came across these files. I really only made these songs for myself to cope with my loneliness at the time but listening back I realized they were better than I gave myself credit for so I decided to share them. My other music project is most likely gonna be my “main” one going forward but I will continue to dabble in electronic production here and there. This EP is all electronic except for “A Terror Way Beyond Falling” which features me playing on a guitar I borrowed. Electronic music is somewhat out of my comfort zone both in terms of my music taste and in terms of the kind of music I’m used to making, but I made do with what was available to me at the time and I’m glad that I have a record of these feelings during a difficult but rewarding time in my life.

Edit: I uploaded it to the wrong page accidentally, the above links are correct. Here is the incorrect page that I originally uploaded it to where I somehow spelled my own name wrong in the URL lol.
