1979
1Motorhead
Overkill

An undeniably good album full of classic songs. Sadly however, like most of Motorhead's early discography, it's severely dated and hadn't aged very well in my opinion. Still, solid songwriting helps it remain a classic despite its age.

The Wall

Okay so, this album is definitely not bad and I understand why it became the huge, huge hit that it is. But for me, this is pretty much the antithesis of everything that I enjoy in music. To me it's clear that when Roger Waters wrote this album, he intended it to be a cinematic, story-driven experience where the actual music seats in the back; he wanted to convey emotions entirely with words, and with some nice background music, I guess. It does absolutely nothing to me. When I say that I prefer it when the music does the talking, I'm talking about songs like Echoes, who manages to give the listener a deep emotional experience on a magnitude that this album - four times its length - never even gets close to be doing. I understand its appeal, I really do, and I think it accomplished its intended goal - it's just not what I'm looking for in an album.
