| Top Ten Muse Songs..... Again!
I did a list of Muse's top ten songs before, but now i've listened to more of the band, and decided to revamp it. First off here are some of the runners up:
- Stockholme Syndrome (still just cant get into this one)
- Take A Bow (works as in intro, but too electro for my tastes)
- The Groove (fantastic song, every Muse fan should listen to it, but not quite top ten).
Anyway, onto the list! | | 1 | Muse Bliss
Still my number one Muse song. Im not sure why I love this one so much, but I just find it amazing. The synth arpeggios, the emotional vocal performance, the fantastic wall of guitars and drums and bass at the beggining...... its all just so fantastic. | | 2 | New Born
One of the Muse's best bass riffs (and, heck, one of the best bass riffs EVER as far as im concerned), coupled with a fantastic melody and piano intro really make this Muse's best album opener, and one of their best songs. | | 3 | Map of The Problematique
This one has certainly grown on me since I first heard it, through headphones Map is a truly amazing experience. Props to Rich Costey for the excellent production of this one. | | 4 | Falling Away With You
Most people seem to hate this song, but I find that it is one of the bands best. Great melody, and a really nice understated acoustic riff from Matt here. And the bass line in the chorus is just awesome. | | 5 | Knights of Cydonia
This is probably one of the only songs where Muse has a sense of humour, and they pull it off perfectly. From the western inspired riff, to the trumpets in the intro, to Matts fantastic acapella breakdown, Knights is a great, epic album closer. | | 6 | Citizen Erased
Muses most epic song, Citizen Erased features the best breakdown in the bands catalog, as well as some of the best song structuring. The song moves through several different parts, from the rocking (the climactic bass/guitar riff and solo) to the more understated (the second verse) before finally arriving at its soft piano outro. An amazing song. | | 7 | Sing For Absolution
I dont know why, but I just love this song. The pianos, the fantastic guitar breakdown, and the amazing ending just make this one of my favourites. | | 8 | Glorious
One of the bands best b-sides, Glorious definately should have been included on BHaR. Its epic, with soaring melodies and a great synth intro. I still dont get how this never made it to an album. | | 9 | Hyper Music | | 10 | Muscle Museum | |
Burning_October
10.24.08 | For some reason its not letting me add a description to the last two, so here they are:
Hyper Music:
Hyper Music is one of the best "angry" songs you can find. With its scratchy, spastic guitar riff, and fantastic screaming from Matt, its one of the most interesting pieces of music the band has made.
Muscle Museum:
Featuring a great, simple bass line, and a great vocal performance from Matt, which finds him suddenly reaching up into his falsetto range before abruptly dropping down again, Muscle Museum is one of the best song on Showbiz. | poweroftheweez
10.24.08 | No 'Time is Running Out'? :( | Burning_October
10.24.08 | ^^ Time Is Running Out is pretty meh, in my opinion. A good, catchy single, but it doesnt even compare to any of the songs of Origin of Symmetry. The ending of it is awesome, though. | AliW1993
10.24.08 | Nice list, very different to mine, but I still like everything here.
My favs are Knights Of Cydonia, Citizen Erased, Plug In Baby and Hysteria. | Chewie
10.24.08 | epic fail for no Butterflies And Hurricanes, easily Muse's best song. | Spamue1G
10.24.08 | Radiohead >>>>> Muse
But Muse are still pretty good. I don't really like Bliss, though... New Born and Knights Of Cydonia are probably my favourite Muse tracks. | ninjuice
10.24.08 | Radiohead =/= Muse
List needs Hysteria and Invincible, imo | PuddleSwimmer
10.24.08 | I'm going to throw darts at the next person comparing Muse to Radiohead.
My personal favorites include:
Butterflies And Hurricanes
New Born
Muscle Museum
Map Of the Problematique
Bassline talking, I love the one in 'Sunburn' | Spamue1G
10.24.08 | Hehe, my bad, I'm just messing around. I just like poking fun at Muse for one reason or another. I know they aren't clones, don't take me seriously :) | brandtweathers
10.24.08 | muscle museum isn't #10 | natey
10.25.08 | toss out 5 and throw in Butterflies and Hurricanes. missing a few killer laid back songs.. and Glorious is basically the hippest ever | PuddleSwimmer
10.25.08 | Nahh Spamue, I wasn't takin' you seriously, it just kills me when people hate on Muse because hs voice sounds like Yorke's because not only is Bellamy a really good singer, but he can play some mean keys and and guitar and they have a great bassist, drummer.
Then they get dissed off because of Bellamy's vocals. Makes me : | Masochist
10.25.08 | Good, good list! I made a list of top 10 Muse songs on this site, too, and here it is:
Bliss
Stock. Synd.
New Born
K of C
Citizen Erased
Take A Bow

Super. Blackhole
Map of the...
Apocalypse Please
I can't believe someone else has Bliss at the top! Usually it's Stockholm Syndrome or Citizen Erased or something like that...not usually Bliss. Great, great list! | hatahs
