Top Spotify Listens Rated

So since Spotify gives you and end of the year playlist, here’s a list of my nine most listened songs and my rate on the album they came from. I might have these albums rated differently on my rates but I’m lazy to update ratings usually
1Okkervil River
Black Sheep Boy

For Real
5/5
An indie gem I was WAAAAY too late on diving into. Every song resonants with emotions, fluctuations from dissonant to beautiful, all wrapped inside brilliant storytelling. Necessary listen for fans of Wilco and The National.
2Cassino
Sounds of Salvation

American Low
3.8/5
Beautiful guitar work, a wonderful vocalist, combined with melancholy lyrics inside the facade of upbeat, catchy song structures. There’s not the most replay value as a whole album for me, but merits are high. For fans of Tigers on Trains and Owen
3 Ghostmane
Blackmage

As Above So Look Out Below
3.4/5
Lyrically inept, but beats are too vicious on this for me to bring it much lower. Instrumentals keep me consistently entertained, and his flow goes wild around the instrumentation. A huge grower though, this guy was such a meme when I first found him. For fans of $uicideboy$ and Pouya
4Rex Orange County
Apricot Princess

Television/So Far So Good
4.1/5
A well-needed piece in alternative hip-hop that transitions from sad, ballad-esque indie to confident rap on a whim. Unique instrumentation, each song holds its own and maintains variety throughout. For fans of Brockhamtom and Arctic Monkeys
5Corbin
Mourn

ICE BOY
3.3/5
A few swallows of this is amazing, but more exposure shines flaws. As a whole, the album isn’t cohesive and his raspy vocals become burdensome. However, ICE BOY and a few others are easy 4+/5 songs. For fans of Bobby Raps and Wicca Springs
6MGMT
Little Dark Age

She Works Out Too Much
3.7/5
A HUGE surprise to me. Experimentation at its best, MGMT seemed to be over and out for years. Then they return with a synthpop BOP. Any song on here competes with their old best. For fans of 80s synths n shit
7Injury Reserve
Floss

What’s Goodie
4/5
True class-A example of individuality and chemistry done right. The MCs complimentarily bounce off one another, with intriguing lines filled with humor and reality. Beats are insanely unique, using uncommon instruments to perk your ears. For fans of Brockhampton and Outkast
8Alkaline Trio
Goddamnit

Enjoy Your Day
4.4/5
Probably the oldest band on this list I’ve been listening to, not much to say that isn’t said. Goddammit brought dark, cynical witticisms into pop-punk and later influenced countless bands, too lovely of an album. For fans of Bayside and old Blink-182
9Frightened Rabbit
The Midnight Organ Fight

The Modern Leper
4.5/5
A lovely voice, bold and confident lyrics. Another timeless record. For fans of Band of Horses and The Mountain Goats
