hesperus
01.22.19 | that is a super specific niche and i think you might have already exhausted its catalog here |
Keyblade
01.22.19 | Amesoeurs |
JLR2DEG
01.22.19 | @Keyblade - Thank you. I have only recently listened to Ruines Humaines where Neige does most of the vocals. I had forgotten that Audrey Sylvain does most of the vocals on the later self titled album. |
TheSpirit
01.22.19 | you probably have all the female fronted blackgaze bands listed here already |
JLR2DEG
01.22.19 | @TheSpirit - Well crap...I was hoping there were at least a few more out there. : ( |
Gmork89
01.23.19 | Todtgelichter is awesome, check them out. |
Dewinged
01.23.19 | Check Vermilia. |
JLR2DEG
01.23.19 | @Gmork89 - I am listening to the Angst album as we speak. I have never heard of Todtgelichter before and I must admit that this album caught me by surprise. I love the mix of styles as well as the combination of the throaty screams and the clean female vocals. Thanks for the rec. |
JLR2DEG
01.23.19 | @Dewinged - Vermilia is another artist with which I am not familiar. She reminds of me of a pagan black metal version of Myrkur with the mix of clean and screamed vocals. Thanks for the rec. |
Hawks
01.23.19 | Def jam Ludicra. |
Dewinged
01.23.19 | Glad you liked it man, yeah she's a harsher version of Myrkur. Not exactly blackgaze but if you wanna continue through that dark, female artist path, Chelsea Wolfe and Darkher may be up your alley. |
DamnVanne
01.23.19 | Check grotesque |
JLR2DEG
01.23.19 | @Hawks - I know I can always count on you to give me a great rec. I have heard of Ludicra before but never took the time to listen to them. What a pleasant surprise. I thought they would be more traditional black metal which I do not enjoy as much. I need to broaden my horizons. : ) |
BallsToTheWall
01.23.19 | Cool list. |
Hawks
01.23.19 | Glad you’re digging. Yeah bm takes a while to get into but it’s such a vast genre you kinda get used to it. |
JLR2DEG
01.23.19 | @DamnVanne - I found a few bands named Grotesque. Can you give me an album name that I should check out? |
zaruyache
01.23.19 | ludicra's not really post-black but if you're gonna check them might as well also look into their vox's newest band Ails.
also Immortal Bird just bcus |
Hawks
01.23.19 | Yeah Ludicra is kinda more punky but close enough. |
Keyblade
01.23.19 | Joyless' second album is another good one |
JLR2DEG
01.23.19 | @BallsToTheWall - Thank you. I just checked out your list of albums rated as 5’s. I think that you have some of the most diverse musical tastes I have ever encountered. You have A Light in the Dark, Circle Takes the Square, Judas Priest, and David Hasselhoff in the same list. : ) |
JLR2DEG
01.23.19 | @Keyblade - What is the name of Joyless’ second album? |
Keyblade
01.23.19 | Wisdom & Arrogance
it's more like rock/gaze with bm influences than the other way around tho |
JLR2DEG
01.23.19 | @zaruyache - Thanks for the recs. I will give them both a listen tomorrow. : ) |
OldCrime
01.24.19 | Since the pool seems to be low, these are a couple of "blackened" female fronted Australian bands that some folks enjoy.
Pagan - Black Wash (blackened pop punk/rock)
High Tension - Purge (like a less good Oathbreaker)
|
Gmork89
01.24.19 | @JLR2DEG glad you like Angst! Neon is one of my favorite tracks on there. |
OldCrime
02.03.19 | Also, https://suldusk1.bandcamp.com |
zaruyache
02.03.19 | oh ye that album is on my list |
JLR2DEG
02.03.19 | @OldCrime - Thank you for the suggestions. My attention was especially caught by Suldusk and the upcoming Lunar Falls album. The singles from that album are great. : ) |
JLR2DEG
07.14.19 | I just added the EP Fomalhaut by Brazilian one woman band Entardecer. Her other EP's (Lethargy and Wind) are pretty great too. It is so hard to find female fronted artists in the blackgaze and atmospheric black metal categories. |
crystaldeer
07.30.19 | Lethian Dreams = doomy blackgaze (Red Silence Lodge and Season of Raven words have only the lady on vocals, other albums include the dude doing growls as well)
Les Silhouettes = blackgaze influenced instrumental post-rock, one lady band
Wishfield = indie influenced blackgaze, lady is only vocalist
Ambersmoke = blackgazey lo-fi, one woman band
Haunted = raw blackgaze, one woman band
Gedanken toten Lebens = atmospheric black metal, one woman band
Beautiful Nature = synthy blackgaze, one woman band
Coldnight = lo-fi atmospheric black metal
Bands with a woman as a co-vocalist: Trautonist, Archivist, Asthenia (their album Nucleation), Sojourner, Mavrodoxa
My Purest Heart For You might be a woman, they only have a woman as their bandcamp picture and I can't find any other info on them.
Anesmwythder is a trans woman
I know of 4 blackgaze bands that have non-binary singers, but I'm not trying to out them |
budgie
07.30.19 | the heretoir track to follow the sun has beautiful female vocals. think it's the only female vocals on the album though. perfect song. |
