Best Christmas Horror Movies

I love Christmas, I love horror...here's the best.
10Bing Crosby
Merry Christmas

CHRISTMAS EVIL (1980)
Weird, and at times a bit slow. But to my knowledge, this may be the first movie to ever do the "crazy guy dresses up as Santa and kills people" thing. A couple decent kills and some other creepy goodness here and there.

SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT 5: THE TOY MAKER
Mickey Rooney is an evil toy maker, and with the help of his son, he builds evil toys that kill their owners. Underrated sequel with some surprisingly decent effects, and the finale kicks ass.

A CHRISTMAS HORROR STORY (2015)
From the cover, this looks like a terrible Krampus ripoff (though it actually came out the same year), but this one surprised me as well. It's sort of done in an anthology style and is consistently decent all throughout, until the end where you're like "oh...wow that was actually awesome." Check it out if you've got nothing better to do.

INSIDE (2007)
French home invasion film! My memory is fuzzy but I think this takes place on Christmas Eve. The holiday doesn't have much to do with the movie, but hey snow is snow. Very brutal, gory, visceral. Not for the faint of heart. One of the better French horror films of the 2000s.

JACK FROST (1997)
This b-movie should be required viewing for anyone who loves cheesy low budget horror. It is entirely self-aware and very campy. I started watching this on Netflix in high school but quickly turned it off because I was too cool for it. Now as an adult I realize it's actually fucking hilarious.

GREMLINS (1984)
It's a classic. We've all seen it. This would not be rated PG if it came out today!

KRAMPUS (2015)
I'm automatically required to love this since it's directed by the same guy who did Trick 'r Treat. This is claustrophobic horror done right. The monster designs are amazing and there are some epic evil toy battles. A lot of love went into this movie, and it's an annual tradition for me now.

RARE EXPORTS (2010)
Finland presents the best Christmas movie you've never heard of. While it also ties in the idea of a Krampus, or some ancient evil Santa-demon thing, this one is almost done in more of a fantasy way. The production value is great and is just top-notch entertainment. You'll be watching with subtitles, but so worth it!

BLACK CHRISTMAS (1974)
Wow. What a treat this is. Black Christmas may very well be the first true Christmas horror movie, and is actually directed by Bob Clark - the director of A Christmas Story. I guess this dude just loves Christmas? This movie is a slow-burn. It has the feel of a crime/mystery/thriller, but isn't afraid to use brutality and shock when needed. It is cozy and warm, while simultaneously cold and disparate. The final scene is one of my favorites from any genre, ever. Please please please watch this.

SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT (1984)
I cannot express enough how much I love this movie. It feels like some dusty old VHS you found in your grandma's basement as a kid, and popped it in just out of curiosity. And within five minutes, you're like "...WHAT am I watching?!" Perfect mix of horror and comedy, whether intentional or not. This movie is dripping with holiday spirit and is easily the best iteration of the Santa slasher sub-sub-genre. The kills are fantastic, the actors are fun, and it's even pretty quotable. Oh, and if the only thing you've seen from Part 2 is the Garbage Day scene, that's plenty. It sucks.
