11.05.18 | Are we allowed to use the new Waza Craft Edition? |
DungeonBoy
11.05.18 | Only in my dreams does a waza craft HM-2 pedal exist my good man. |
DungeonBoy
11.05.18 | Also In Flames allegedly used HM-2's on TJR |
Demon of the Fall
11.05.18 | I'm interested in hearing that Grave album now, thanks. How did ATG manage to screw this up? That album doesn't sound like a chainsaw, it lacks any ferocity.
1 & 3 rule (obvs) & I like the sound of that Nails album, mediocre band overall though. |

11.05.18 | A great example of how you can make great music with supposedly terrible gear. I heard Storm of the Light’s Bane uses a JCM900 and metal zone pedal, those are two of the internet’s most widely panned pieces of gear |
DungeonBoy
11.05.18 | Ola Englund recently made a really interesting video on the Boss Metal Zone MT-2:
https://youtu.be/nxRe99Tjlwg?t=71
when run through the effects loop it apparently has some built in preamp modeler that actually sounds pretty killer for a modern metal tone, yet most kids growing up probably just stuck it in front of the amp on a clean channel, thought it sounded like crap, and let it collect dust over the years. |
onionbubs
11.05.18 | best pedal |
Itwasthatwas
11.05.18 | It always sounded fine for what it was whether in front of the amp or in the loop, if you took the time to dial it in and had a fairly neutral platform for pedals. I think a lot of kids didn’t understand the parametric mid-EQ, which was a very unique feature to include on a mass market high gain pedal. |
bloc
11.05.18 | I'd still take an HM-2 over the EHX Metal Muff |
Itwasthatwas
11.05.18 | For sure. Boss would make a ton of money if they reissued it. |
bloc
11.05.18 | They do have the Waza Craft version coming out soon. Gonna be really pricey though. |
onionbubs
11.05.18 | i thought you were joking when you said they were gonna reissue it but na
shits real |
bloc
11.05.18 | Hahaha, nah man it is definitely real. And it actually sounds good too lol |
Itwasthatwas
11.06.18 | I still have a used HM2 from the 80s I bought off someone a long time ago. Maybe 10 years ago. Still works, those old Boss pedals are built for the nuclear apocalypse. I don't get much use out of it since I don't play a lot of DM these days, and stick mainly to digital modeling for convenience. |
bloc
11.06.18 | Oh yeah digital modelling has been my shit for like 5 years now. I do miss the excitement of a "real" amp and pedals on the floor from time to time though. Btw, I'd keep that HM-2. I bet the prices for it will skyrocket once some popular band starts using it lol |
Deathconscious
11.06.18 | Other than some of what you have on the list:
Brutally Deceased
Morbid Flesh
Horrendous
Coffincraft
Daemoniac |
DungeonBoy
11.06.18 | Coffincraft - In Eerie Slumber is top tier Swedish OSDM worship played by Finns |
DungeonBoy
11.06.18 | Also yeah modelers are great these days, I just picked up a BOSS Katana to jam on, and there's a lot of options with sneaky amps unlocked. It has literally almost every BOSS pedal modeled except a freakin HM-2. |
osmark86
11.06.18 | just using the HM-2 isn't enough. It needs to be knobbed to the 11 mate. |
DungeonBoy
11.06.18 | Also what are y'all talking about a waza craft HM-2, I haven't read anything about that |
osmark86
11.06.18 | the other guitarist in my band has a HM-2. might have to borrow it for some pvre dm goodness with the drummer and slap together an album of chainsaw brutality.
we're all swedes too to add to the authenticity...I s'pose. |
THVRTVVN
11.06.18 | check eternal sleep |
BigBlob
11.06.18 | im such a casual. i only have the MT2 |
bloc
11.06.18 | One day I gotta try a treble booster into a Tube Screamer into an HM-2 and finally into a filter with the mids boosted and see how many inches of glass I can pierce through with the "mids madness.
On another note, fuckin hell digital modelling and solid state amps have come a loooong way over the past 5 years. Fuck tubes. |
Demon of the Fall
11.06.18 | nerds |
BigBlob
11.06.18 | "Fuck tubes."
whooooooow there |
DungeonBoy
11.06.18 | lol, yeah I have two tube amps that are both incredible to play, but for practical purposes a nice modern Solid State with amp modeling can sounds pretttty amazing, and some of the DI features these days for recording are incredibly convincing, tweakable, and 100% usable for quality recordings. |
BigBlob
11.06.18 | I record all my stuff through my PC these days as you can take a clean take and mod it however you want without doing multiple recordings to get the right tone. but at the same time nothing like cranking my 60 watt tube amp with my mxr fullbore metal and esp m1 just for the fun of playing |
bloc
11.06.18 | Lol ok I dunno why I wrote that last part. They've treated me well over the years that I've used them. |
BigBlob
11.06.18 | not to hijack the thread but whats audio interface do you have? my focusrite scarlett SUCKS with emg pickups. always clips them unless you have the input waaay low |
DungeonBoy
11.06.18 | Focusrite Scarlett 2i2.. you shouldn't be clipping on them are you DI or micing? |
BigBlob
11.06.18 | DI. even with the pad, unless the input nob is really low on the interface it clips. and the non-clipped signal is so weak it sounds worse than my fender strat ffs |
BigBlob
11.06.18 | and this is after that 18 volt mod I did to my EMGs |
THVRTVVN
11.06.18 | "Fuck tubes."
