10.30.18 | Ready to be royally ripped to shreds. |
DungeonBoy
10.30.18 | Dude, this was a long time coming! The anticipation has grown immensely. Diving in now. See you on the other side |
tyman128
10.30.18 | I’ll check this out soon |
pjquinones747
10.30.18 | Love you guys for being willing to listen to it! I keep forgetting to try to upload these on my home PC so I can compress the images sufficiently haha. We have pictures on Facebook and whatnot if you're absolutely dying to see it. |
ZombieToyDuck
10.30.18 | First track is real good stuff man, definitely impressed! |
tyman128
10.30.18 | I sorta “skimmed” through all the songs just to get a feel for it, and this is really good. The cleans aren’t my favorite (could use some work imo) but the harsh vocals are fantastic. When you move past the demo stage, these songs will be amazing, no doubt, with some added production and mixing. Great stuff man, keep it up! |
ZombieToyDuck
10.30.18 | Agreed, I think considering how this is recorded this is amazing though dude. Cleans definitely have a "demo" feel to them but honestly I find them charming, part of the reason I like demos. |
pjquinones747
10.30.18 | The engineer got a two-year degree from our local community college for sound engineering so he definitely has something to hang his hat on considering it's a home set-up! |
ZombieToyDuck
10.30.18 | It's pretty damn impressive man, the mixing is great. |
pjquinones747
10.30.18 | @tyman Yeah, our singer has a wonderful singing voice but he himself wants to put out better performances by his own words. I think this demo really has him pumped for our next recording sessions and of course getting on stage.
@Zombie I'll let him know he's getting good words! |
ZombieToyDuck
10.30.18 | slapping a 4 on this bad boy 👍🏻 |
pjquinones747
10.30.18 | Love it. Thanks brotha < 3 |
DungeonBoy
10.30.18 | did you just 5 your own album, lol? I like the spirit! |
tyman128
10.30.18 | yea, by no means am I saying it’s bad cleans, they’re perfectly fine, but touching up the melodies would definitely enhance the sound. Everything else is absolutely amazing, especially considering it’s a demo. Looking forward to the next stage of recording. Easy 4 from me |
pjquinones747
10.30.18 | Hahahaha oops you caught me. I am shamelessly hyping my own band cuz I'm hyped about what we write. |
pjquinones747
10.30.18 | @tyman for sure, thanks for the feedback! The recordings might've benefited from a little studio magic but that's hard to do from home.
Can't wait to share the next stuff we're looking to drop next spring. We have a bunch of gazey/post-rock influences that we're waiting to put on record. |
DungeonBoy
10.30.18 | dude, that's great, you 100% should be proud of the music you release |
ZombieToyDuck
10.30.18 | excited to here where this goes man, loads and loads of potential from you guys |
pjquinones747
10.30.18 | Totally. And the best part is there's a bunch of uber talented bands that're JUST starting to come around in Phoenix too. It's like we all collectively graduated from garbage mallcore and are finally unveiling the stuff that's been influencing us as we move further and further from high school. I want to see my city to become the next music hub like California did for Swancore. |
pjquinones747
10.30.18 | Strelitzia, Not Nearly, Yellow MK IV, Troubled Minds, Holy Fawn, Gold Season, Elsa
To name a few.
@Zombie thanks man!! |
BerryGarlicia
10.30.18 | what genre do you make? |
pjquinones747
10.30.18 | We've been calling it ambient post-hardcore overall but it's a combination of things. Sometimes emo, sometimes post-rock, sometimes straight post-hardcore, sometimes more post-metal (songs with these leanings aren't on this recording). Tell me what YOU think we most sound like though. |
Jamdbz
10.30.18 | Neat stuff, really into this. Ya'll should be proud of these songs |
pjquinones747
10.30.18 | Thanks a million, Jam! |
DungeonBoy
10.30.18 | I'd call it post-hardcore, got some PBTT/TA vibes, but yeah it certainly expands a little on that sound. I gave it two full listens. It's pretty good man for your first output and I don't mean that as a slight. The songs are good, the production could use some work for this style, but since it's a demo done by your guitarist, I'd say it's good enough to get your point across. The drumming is good man, kudos, but the drum production could use a little punch to cut through better. Don't know your thoughts on triggering, but that snare could use a some help to cut through the mix, and the kick sounds a little too clicky. Guitars sound good, a little flat, but the overall actual MIX is pretty good! there's some slight pumping in the first track but nothing too terrible. The singing is a little off key every now and then, but overall a good performance! This would translate well live I'd imagine, I hope you guys have some plans to play some shows if you haven't already. Overall good job! |
botb
10.30.18 | Will check in just a second on my drive home |
pjquinones747
10.30.18 | @Dungeon many thanks for the detailed pointers here. I appreciate it a ton! When you say "TA" for some reason it's not ringing a bell.
@botb thanks for listening man :) |
DungeonBoy
10.30.18 | Touche Amore, lol, sorry just kinda lumped those two bands together cause they are pretty much the face of post-hardcore in the 2010's |
ZombieToyDuck
10.30.18 | I think he's saying Touch Amore
edit: yeahh lol |
pjquinones747
10.30.18 | Yes!!! Those are two we fuckin' love lol. Idk why I blanked. |
botb
10.30.18 | Sounds like some serious hopesfall influence my man, a lot of cool ideas here. I agree with what dungeonboy said about the production and the cleans, but with a little bit more polish and a better mix on the next release youll be sitting pretty. Good job! |
DungeonBoy
10.30.18 | some serious hopesfall influence [2] for sure! |
pjquinones747
10.30.18 | Hopesfall is one of my biggest influences in this project for sure so that hypes me a lot haha.
I'm considering switching up the similar artists on the main page to these guys you've mentioned. If y'all got one or two more I can throw 'em on as well. |
tyman128
10.30.18 | so I'm currently writing up a review for this thing, and I just realized that a lot of the clean vocals remind me of mewithoutYou (A:B Life era) with more of a spoken word/softly sung style along with They're Only Chasing Safety-era Underoath harsh vocals, and I really dig it. This is seriously very well done, may end up bumping this to a 4.5 because of how much it's growing on me. For a demo, this sounds better than a lot of stuff I've heard this year. |
pjquinones747
10.30.18 | This is warming my heart. Also I haven't listened to a ton of mwY so that's very interesting. I definitely figured some TOCS-era Underoath influence especially with the vocals.
I'm gonna plaster your review all over my band's social media when it's done. I'll also make sure I upload good images because the white background is annoying me lol. |
tyman128
10.30.18 | "This is warming my heart."
As it should, this is amazing stuff and you all should be proud of it. True potential shown throughout, looking forward to what you all have next. |
pjquinones747
10.30.18 | Thank you so much man. I only hope locals end up enjoying our tunes as much as you are lol. If you happen to be on the west coast of the US we'll have to put your town on a tour date some day relatively soon. |
tyman128
10.30.18 | Man, I wish haha, I don't live in the US, but in I'll be in the west coast come two years from now, so let's see about that haha
Review will be up in about 2 minutes. |
pjquinones747
10.30.18 | By then we'll definitely be able to put together west coast tour dates! Til then hype us in your town! Haha. I can even tag you as the reviewer on Facebook if you'd like. |
tyman128
10.30.18 | dang, thanks for the mention, but I don't have FB haha but still, use my review to hype you guys up by all means necessary. Hope you enjoy the review! |
pjquinones747
10.30.18 | tyman, I love you. |
tyman128
10.30.18 | haha, love you too |

pjquinones747
10.30.18 | I appreciate it dude! Atmosphere is the big emphasis for sure. |
tyman128
10.30.18 | “Ready to be totally ripped to shreds”
remember when you said that? lucky you, you got the opposite |
pjquinones747
10.30.18 | I always prepare for the worst! Lol. |
Prancer
10.30.18 | more of that vocal style in the beginning of Show Your Face, please. that was some good shit. singing needs work though. |
pjquinones747
10.30.18 | We all believe SYF is definitely a very vocal centric song. Thanks for the feedback, Prancer! |
Brabiz
10.30.18 | This is genuinely fucking awesome from the few songs i heard. Nice job, excited to hear studio recorded material |
pjquinones747
10.30.18 | Many thanks!! |
Feather
10.30.18 | Checking now based on the fact alone that this many people are jamming this and enjoying it |
pjquinones747
10.31.18 | I hope to count you among them! ;) |
Feather
10.31.18 | Took a listen! You guys sound promising. Huge early Underoath vibes here. |
pjquinones747
10.31.18 | Thanks a ton!! |
Beardog
10.31.18 | Gonna check bro |
osmark86
10.31.18 | will czech |
Beardog
10.31.18 | Yes this would be amazing with better cleans, but they have the potential to sound better. This is really good man, you guys can be proud! Great song writing, and please keep us posted when these songs are finished! On a more personal note, good job on the drumming. Most post-hardcore bands go way too far on the double bass stuff imo, but you managed to keep it tasteful |
pjquinones747
10.31.18 | Thank you so much!
Funny story, when we started this project we were heavily inspired by Deafheaven and Oathbreaker and whatnot and were trying to lean in the blackgaze direction and a couple of our other songs were a lot heavier. We ended up taking the chord shapes we were already using and making more post-rock/post-hardcore vibe songs out of 'em when we figured out we were NOT cut out for the blackgaze stuff haha, thus the heavier feel on DCOM.
I like to sprinkle tasteful double bass throughout though regardless to keep the sound really dynamic. |
Beardog
10.31.18 | Yeah it works well in the first track! |
pjquinones747
10.31.18 | We haven't really gone full heavy just yet. We have a couple really heavy tracks up our sleeves so maybe when that time comes we can also make way for a blackgaze section or two lol. I'd love to keep our sound heavily varied. |
pjquinones747
01.15.19 | Posting here because I'm stupidly excited: My band just played a local showcase at one of the big venues for local post-hardcore and got an incredible reception and now we just got offered a spot opening for As Cities Burn and I'm absolutely reeling with excitement.
That is all. |
DungeonBoy
01.15.19 | Congrats man, nothing like some hard work paying off! |
pjquinones747
01.15.19 | Absolutely. Hoping it continues to pay off like this! |
Sinternet
01.15.19 | sick dude congrats |
pjquinones747
