10.09.18 | Hoping I actually find time to make it through the whole series before Oct 19... |
foxblood
10.09.18 | I'm the only one that loves Halloween III: Season of the Witch it seems |
butt.
10.09.18 | nah bro I love it too. I get the silver shamrock song stuck in my head all the time |
foxblood
10.09.18 | cool, I think it's a very memorable movie with some great scenes, horror, and visuals. and yeah that song is the catchiest thing ever made. My fav 3 are H1>H3>H2 and then after that they are all kinda just alright but I haven't seen them in a while. |
Coast
10.09.18 | H1 by a mile. I always liked H3 too and after that they're a blur. |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.09.18 | The mask in Halloween 4 is fucking hilarious, although not as shitty as the mask(s) in H20.
Halloween 2 and 4 are very competent sequels, although definitely not classics. H20 is a fun time as well. 5, 6 and Resurrection can eat my ass. Zombies movies can also eat my ass, although they are more watchable - I just don't know how I feel about EVERY fucking character being a redneck piece of shit and Michael Myers just being a sad boy with a screwed up childhood. No beuno.
Haven't seen 3, will probably watch it tonight. Can't wait for the new one. |
Hawks
10.10.18 | I dig them all tbh. First one is the GOAT horror movie for me. And yeah Season of the Witch is def underrated hard. I also love Resurrection. I remember going to see that shit in theaters when I was 10 years old with my best friend and his dad lol.
New one looks amazing though, hope it doesn’t disappoint. m/ |
DominionMM1
10.10.18 | watched this and part 5 the other day myself. 4 is good 5 is ok. |
Divaman
10.10.18 | Actually, Halloween III has become sort of a cult classic. The only real problem with it is it should never have been made as a "Halloween" movie, since it has nothing to do with the others. |
wham49
10.10.18 | probably the worst MM in the series. The reason one was so great is Nick Castle played the F out of the character, the better the Michael, the better the movie, same thing with F13 |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.10.18 | "I also love Resurrection."
What the fuck, Hawks? |
Hawks
10.10.18 | It was one of the first Halloween movies I saw (I mentioned I was only 10) so it’s special for me. Also I love Busta. |
butt.
10.10.18 | ugh Resurrection is the one I refuse to ever watch again. Not even for this list. I cannot get over the fact that this is setup more like a Saw movie and then a friggin rapper kills the most legendary slasher icon of all time.
And yeah H3 is underrated. I love the 80s cheesiness. Kinda wish they had been able to continue the anthology goal they originally had with this series. |
butt.
10.17.18 | Watched the original again last night. What a great fucking movie. Hopefully watching Halloween II tonight (not that it matters, since tomorrow night it will no longer be cannon). |

10.17.18 | My favorite part about H1 is the ending. This was back before unkillable killers were a cliche |

10.17.18 | TOMORROW NIGHT, BABY
Pls don't be terrible
""I'm the only one that loves Halloween III: Season of the Witch it seems"
2nd favorite lol"
Yeah Season of the Witch is up there for me. WAY better than 5,6,Resurrection and remakes |
butt.
10.17.18 | Guys the new one is going to be so great. I've been refreshing RottenTomatoes religiously the past week, today alone there were like another 15 reviews and they all gave positive scores. The tomato meter has been slowly creeping up for the past month! |
wham49
10.18.18 | will see it anyway, have seen everything except one and 2 at the theatre, not going to stop now
dont get the fascination with 4 and 5 around here. If any of them from that run in the late 80-early 90's should be the Curse of, some great brutal scenes in that, however not the best MM, however nobody stands up to the MM performance on 1. Seemed so real and raw. the others seems too perfect |
Divaman
10.18.18 | Gonna pass on the new one. It had it's day, but if Jamie Lee is already a grey-haired old lady, Michael ought to be hacking up teenagers from his wheelchair. |
butt.
10.18.18 | Agreed Wham, 4-5 were never interesting to me. Re-watching 4 was not as bad as I remember, but I doubt I'll be able to say the same of 5. I remember loving Curse because it had more halloween spirit, and you're right, it's brutal. Sure the origin story is dumb, but who cares. |
wham49
10.18.18 | I dont mind the origin story, although it comes 20 years later and does not fit with the original plot, but at least somebody was putting some thought into it,
as far a Resurection goes. i saw it at a little drive in with about 5 others cars, so made it alittle scarier it the pitch black outside, but any movie with B grade rappers is terrible in my book |
sonictheplumber
10.18.18 | basically only the first one matters |
sonictheplumber
10.18.18 | that being said i always thought 5 and resurrection were hilarious |
sonictheplumber
10.18.18 | friday the 13th really embraced their ridiculousness and it helped the series i think, terrible shit but super entertaining. halloween seemed to want to maintain some level of seriousness but they went just ridiculous enough to suck more often than be fun |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.18.18 | Just rewatched all of them. 2, 3 and 4 aren't bad but they're nothing amazing. 3 might actually be my favorite sequel now and it doesn't even have Michael in it lol. 2 is worse than I remember tbh.
5 is fucking BORING AS SHIT, 6 is straight up not a good movie, I remember liking H20 but I must have been on bath salts at the time because that movie suckeddddd and Resurrection is just a fucking meme.
Tonight, baby. TONIGHT! DON'T YOU DISAPPOINT ME!
|
budgie
10.18.18 | the breathing at the end of OG as it pans out solidifies it as a perfect 10. total classic |
sonictheplumber
10.18.18 | i had like, the worlds most retarded vhs collection as a little kid and halloween 5 was just something i kept on a loop along with death wish 4, some rugrats tape, lethal weapon 2, other off the wall shit |

10.19.18 | Loved the new one. Saw it last night, just added my thoughts above |

10.19.18 | it was dope!!!! |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.19.18 | @Buttboy - I just made a list less than an hour ago giving my review. Basically, what I loved about the new one was some of my favorite stuff in the franchise (best Michael since the original, wonderfully directed scenes, great kills, great Laurie, great Carpenter music)
But what I hated, I fucking HAATTTEEEDDD. That subplot that took that weird ass turn probably made me more mad and confused than anything I've seen in theaters in the longest time. Some of those jokes were just so poorly placed during my intense kill scenes and took me out of it. Some characters were dropped for no reason, etc.
B- |
butt.
10.19.18 | The subplot almost took an even worse turn though...SPOILERS....I was afraid the doctor was going to "become" Michael and carry on the rest of the movie that way. That would have been infinitely worse. So the fact that his skull was decimated like 5 minutes later made me feel a lot better about all of it. |
butt.
10.19.18 | If we're going letters, I'll give it a B+ |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.19.18 | Yeah, I thought they were going that way too and that would have been terrible. But for real, they could have just cut him out completely and you would have had more of a movie and it would have been an entire grade higher tbh. Personally, it bothered me THAT much - it was so out of left field and was offensively stupid.
he boyfriend character was dropped right after the cell phone scene so that whole plot line could have been edited out. Same with some other random scenes that totally fucked with the pacing (the two cops talking about their sandwich as the most noticeable example). And you touched on this but to me those comedic moments during the kill scenes pissed me off because outside of those jokes, it was filmed so well and it was so intense.
But I'm harping on the negatives right now. It was by far my favorite Halloween sequel and for like 80% of it I was geeking the fuck out with how much I adored so much of it. It just makes it more frustrating for me because I just wish I could go back in time, and shake the writer and scream "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING HERE???" |
theacademy
10.19.18 | it was dope!!!!
updated franchise top 4
halloween 78
halloween 18
halloween 4
halloween 07 |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.19.18 | @academy - I was with you until halloween 07 lmao but you already know that
I made a list recently putting Halloween 2 above 4, but I was wrong. I agree with your top 3
78, 18, 4, 2, then "ugh" imo |
butt.
10.19.18 | nahhh 2 is better than 4. works especially well as a double feature with the first one |
Divaman
10.19.18 | It's kind of sad, but most of the most famous series, like Halloween, Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw, Freddy Krueger are long past their day. They've become like the old Universal monsters, Frankenstein, Dracula, etc. |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.19.18 | @ButtBoy - they are very close. Halloween 4 looks like dogshit and thats very distracting, so points off for that. Halloween 2 has a major missed opportunity that I can't forgive - Lauire NOT getting to react to the fact that Michael is her brother. Seriously, if you're going to go with that reveal, make it a big moment - she doesnt even find out lol. Also it has some other problems, but so does 4 - theyre pretty much tied for me
@Divaman - True, but I still think those are some of the scariest monsters in cinema. This generation has nothing, I kinda feel bad tbh. Bring back classic monsters m/ |
butt.
10.19.18 | Eh, we have the Conjuring universe which can be hit or miss, but I generally enjoy it. Not exactly one iconic protagonist, but does there need to be? But also John Kramer, aka Jigsaw...I think that definitely counts. |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.19.18 | Conjuring is FINE, tons of jump scares and "boo" moments. Not totally for me.
And yeah, I dunno I would like some more iconic horror villains but maybe that's because I grew up with them so the noticeable absent of horror icons is depressing to me.
Jigsaw is whatever, also not crazy about that franchise tbh. It's not the worst thing ever, but it's no Nightmare on Elm Street, Child's Play, Texas Chainsaw or Halloween. |
butt.
10.19.18 | If Trick 'r Treat 2 ever finally happens, then that would be the most defining franchise of the generation for me at least. |
butt.
10.19.18 | Sam and Michael are pretty much tied for my favorite horror icons of all-time. |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.19.18 | Trick R Treat fucking rules, I'll agree on that m/ |
Divaman
10.19.18 | Even Jigsaw has gotten a little long in the tooth.
I don't think they need to keep bringing up the old movie icons, I think they need to create some great new ones. |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.19.18 | @Divaman - The child in me LOVES seeing my favorite horror icons on the big screen again so I don't want them to do away with them completely. As much as I've been bitching about the new Halloween, I had a fucking great big smile on my face to see Michael again.
But yes, agree that we need a new roster of horror icons now pls thanks |
DominionMM1
10.19.18 | watching part 5 on amc in the break room atm |

10.19.18 | besides they all suck to some degree or another after the first one |
Divaman
10.19.18 | >i'm streaming daredevil season 3 now
Just remembered that that dropped today. Have to pick up my son, but gonna start watching that when I get back. |
Deathconscious
10.19.18 | Am i the only one who liked the Rob Zombie remakes? |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.19.18 | @ButtBoy - Hill House is mostly fucking amazing, would STRONGLY recommend. Fair warning, I personally despise the last 20 minutes of that show but I know people that like it and even with that it was still worth the watch.
@Divaman - On episode 4 now, so far it's fucking incredible. Already one of, if not THE best seasons of Marvel (although I suspect another Punisher season would win me over)
@AdolfChrist - No, I know people that like them. I just personally think they are offensively terrible. |
Divaman
10.20.18 | No Adolf. I liked the first one, at least.
Lucca - Didn't get to watch it this afternoon after all. Hope to watch the first episode or two when the bb game ends. |

10.22.18 | Watched the 1978 classic last night, first time checking the franchise. Never known why i never watched, i love horror movies. The first instalment is indeed classic, even with some dumb decisions on the end of the movie. I loved the atmosphere, acting methods and the classic soundtrack. Looking forward to see the rest of the franchise, even if almost every horror sequences are pointless (not in general). I'll definitely see the new one on theaters this week. Keep the work, man, great list. |
butt.
10.22.18 | glad you enjoyed it! let me know what you think of the others. |
Risodo
10.22.18 | For sure, man. I'm still looking for some movie with more impact and realist sadistic moments like Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The Halloween is top tier in my list with this movie and Nightmare On Elm Street. |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.22.18 | "Looking forward to see the rest of the franchise"
Oof, you're not in for a treat :-/
Only a couple of good sequels there, the rest are trash. But yes, the original is indeed a classic. |
Risodo
10.22.18 | Yeah i know, like i've said, most of these franchise fail on their sequences. But i saw that the second movie is not that bad and the 20th aniversary version is quite enjoyable. The rest will definitely be shit haha (excluding the 2018 and the Rob Zombie too) |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.22.18 | Actually Halloween 4 isn't that bad either. 2, 4 and 2018 are the only ones I really like. I even hate the Zombie films aha |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.22.18 | Oh wait also 3 is good but that doesn't have Michael Myers - that's when they thought that the franchise would turn into an anthology series, but alas |
butt.
10.22.18 | H20 is fairly enjoyable imo |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.22.18 | I thought so too a while ago, but I just watched it recently and it was really not for me. Probably the worst looking Michael of the entire franchise, and that is quite a feat (far from the only thing wrong with that film imo) |
Clumseee
10.22.18 | Probably: Halloween (original), H20, Halloween (2018), in that order and the only ones worth watching. |
wham49
10.23.18 | I, II, curse of, H2O, are the best, interested to see the new one, won't make it till next weekend |
