Wolfe in 2018
to get it out of the way cuz I just received my vinyl for Magus and it's all I wanted for the past few months. now to wait for new SUMAC and the Cave In show up ahead. not really ranked. |
| 1 | | Thou Magus
Master-class doom metal. Heathen still is king ;) but if that's a 5 this is a 4.9. |
| 2 | | Hopesfall Arbiter
Makes me wish Satellite Years was restored to this record's level of production quality cuz this thing soars, glides, ascends in some Hum-meets-Misery Signals, American Football, Taking Back Sunday, Devin Townsend fashion. Needless to say I fell in love with it. |
| 3 | | Prefuse 73 Sacrifices
IDM if it was r&b smooth. This went under the radar hard. Can't Wait to see this guy play soon, always been a fan. |
| 4 | | WRONG (FL) FEEL GREAT
305 represent. Band fuckin rules. Workout along to this, skate along to this, crack many brews along to this, kick ass along to this, etc. Helmet/Unsane DBZ fusion if they loved metalcore tones. Former Capsule (FL) members are in this, for those that I see that like Blue should check this out if they also dig groovy riffs. |
| 5 | | Leon Vynehall Nothing Is Still
Lovely tribute and whimsically smooth ambient house. Was hoping more bloom and captivation to dance since I was a huge fan of Rojus (and everything else prior), but Vynehall presented theatrical hazy vignettes that give me more of a city vibe. Never really the kind of house to bump unless it's in more intimate settings (like Stimming), and with Vynehall bending more towards ambient soundscapes, I just love that his expressions are becoming more well-crafted and vibrant than ever. Still pull heartstrings when he plays strings in his tracks. |

| 98 | | Thou The House Primordial
yknow their drone pieces in the past were extrememly solid (Baton Rouge, Lousiana and I Believe Because It Is Impossible) so when this was released I absolutely welcomed that swampy murk that made my chest heavy just by listening. |
