| 10 exceptional tunes | 1 | | Jason Isbell Southeastern
"Elephant". Song tackles the topic of cancer in potentially the most poignant way imaginable. | 2 | | The Beatles Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
"A Day in the Life". I've been listening to The Beatles since I was a kid. Back then, this song didn't hit me like it does now. The lyrics are incredible and the part where the song suddenly shifts tempo and goes from depressing to upbeat is top notch :] | 3 | | Simon and Garfunkel Sounds of Silence
"Sounds of Silence." No explanation should be needed but you're getting one anyways. Yes, the vocal harmonies are perfect, but those lyrics man. "People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening" is as powerful as ever (and almost eerie given our I-phone obsessed generation). | 4 | | The Front Bottoms The Front Bottoms
"Flashlight". Still one of their best tracks and a kick-ass opener. Just really fun. A band you sorta love or hate so not gonna try to convince anyone otherwise lol | 5 | | Rush Moving Pictures
"Tom Sawyer". Thanks to the movie I Love You, Man, I can't hear this track without thinking of that movie anymore, ha. An amazing track, and more accessible for a Rush newbie | 6 | | Nadia Reid Preservation
"Richard". Hands down one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite albums from 2017. Her voice is one of my favorite things ever. New album when? | 7 | | Fireworks Gospel
"Summer." Such a stellar summer jam from a band I find criminally underrated around here. | 8 | | Black Sabbath Master of Reality
"Sweet Leaf". Marijuana is nice sometimes | 9 | | mewithoutYou Brother, Sister
"In a Sweater Poorly Knit" I still remember downloading this song like 13 years ago and being blown away. After revisiting I can confirm it's basically a 5/5 | 10 | | Taking Back Sunday New Again
"Everything Must Go". Album is a 3 but this song is def in the 4.5 range. It's poignant as hell without feeling cheesy at all, something you can't say about some of their songs | |
Papa Universe
