Metallica albums ranked

Here I rank all the studio albums by the great Metallica. Remember that this is my personal list so it's based on my own taste rather than the popular opinion.
10Metallica
St. Anger

Without a doubt the worst Metallica album with too long songs, bad lyrics and ridiculous snare sound. However I don't think this album is as bad as some say. There are some good riffs here and there but a good riff doesn't make a good song.

Best song: St. Anger
Worst song: Purify
9Metallica
Reload

There are few good songs but mostly the material in this album is plain bad or average. I have never even got the appeal of Fuel or The Memory Remains.

Best song: Low Man's Lyric
Worst song: Attitude
8Metallica
Death Magnetic

The song material on this album is actually not bad at all even though some tracks do suffer from overlength. The reason why this record isn't higher is its miserable mixing. Drums are way too loud and the guitars don't sound too good.

Best song: The Day that Never Comes
Worst song: Suicide & Redemption
7Metallica
Hardwired... to Self-Destruct

The mixing is much better here and at best Metallica really showcases that they can still do good music. Great example of that is the last track, Spit Out the Bone, which has energy and aggression like in the old days. Only if the whole album would have the same vibe would it be one of the best Metallica records.

Best song: Spit Out the Bone
Worst song: Murder One
6Metallica
Load

One of the most underrated albums ever. Yes, there are some filler songs in there but by and large the material is excellent on this album. I'm not saying this is a masterpiece but definitely overlooked by many.

Best song: Outlaw Torn
Worst song: Thorn Within
5Metallica
Metallica

I can't deny that Enter Sandman's main riff is catchy as f*ck or that Nothing Else Matters is a beautiful song but I think the best tunes on this CD are the lesser known ones. The God that Failed is truly moving with its deep lyrics and My Friend of Misery's melody is simply amazing.

Best song: The God that Failed
Worst song: Struggle Within
4Metallica
Kill 'Em All

The quality of the songs are not quite at the same level as in the next three albums but the energy and raw power are what make this album great.

Best song: Motorbreath
Worst song: Hit the Lights (very tough decision)
3Metallica
Ride the Lightning

Earned its reputation as one of the best Metallica albums. Fade to Black was the song that led me to listening to Metallica but the whole record is full of classics.

Best song: Ride the Lightning
Worst song: Escape
2Metallica
Master of Puppets

Absolute classic and one of the most important metal albums of all time. I still remember when I first heard the title track and it blew me away. However my favorite song is almost underrated Disposable Heroes which is one of the greatest thrash anthems ever. And Orion is without a doubt the best metal instrumental song I've ever heard.

Best song: Disposable Heroes
Worst song: Leper Messiah (still great)
1Metallica
...And Justice for All

I know my opinion is not too common but for me AJFA is the greatest Metallica album ever. Yes, the missing bass is an issue but the song material on this album is nothing but amazing. Blackened is an awesome opener, the title track is simply epic, One is deservedly famous and Dyer's Eve is the most badass final song in Metallica's discography. I also think this CD has the best and most profound lyrics. Not to mention Lars' drumming is better here than ever before or after.

Best song: Dyer's Eve
Worst song: Eye of the Beholder
