08.02.18 | good luck to all of you who voted against Shub...u pissed of one oft the great old ones... ( or an Outer God, as she has been classfied as both of these things).
Anyway...Carmen is a worthy winner (though I think I maybe wouldn't have voted for it, if it weren't so good dang hot; Il Bacio Della Medusa didn't fit the weather. ) |
Papa Universe
08.02.18 | at least not Shub. adios |

08.02.18 | @hansolo yeah, Carmen is perfect summertime prog. We'll have to risk the wrath of the shub-niggurath this time ;) |

08.02.18 | Good Shit, check out Civilisation by Southern Empire. Might give some of these a run for their money. |

08.02.18 | Good job on the tourney, Friday, and thanks to keep us entertained once again. Out of curiosity, how do you match up the contestants? Is it always calculated or you toss a coin or something?
My favorites, if I don't count mine;
1- Il Bacio Della Medusa
2- Carmen (has grown on me a lot lately)
3- Diagonal
4- Strawbs
5- Eden
6- Golden Earring
7- Mostly Autumn
8- The Future Kings of England
9- Shub (has grown on me a lot lately)
10- Triana
I've enjoyed to play that game with you guys. To all the proggers, keep on p/

08.02.18 | @Jethro I handpick the Discovery matches based on the description, dates, similarities, etc., but then after that the pairings are in order of appearance. |

08.02.18 | @soul interesting, I'll have to check it out. |

08.02.18 | I thought that this tourney's entries were better and more closely matched than in previous contests. I was sorry to see albums go right from the beginning. I'll be returning to all of them in the future.
Shub-Niggurath and Carmen were a tie for first place for me. They are both great, but in such different ways. That was the hardest round for me to decide. After that it went like this:
2. Eden
3. Il Bacio Della Medusa
4. Strawbs
5. Gosta Berlings Saga
6. Triana
7. Diagonal
8. Mostly Autumn
9. Il paese dei balocchi
10. Golden Earring
It was fun. Thanks Friday, you make it look easy, but I know you put a lot of time into it... Enjoy your vacation! |
Divaman

4. Gosta Berlings Saga
5. Diagonal
6. Golden Earring
7. The Future Kings of England
8. Portal (CAN)

08.02.18 | I'm sorry for not having voted in the final match! I returned home a few hours ago, I've been away for a week-ish which is why I wasn't much active (no internet or phone in general most of the time). Still, great tourney as always. My favorite discovery has to be Shub. |
SharkTooth
08.06.18 | This was a really great tourney, I did not have enough time to be able to vote on the matches regrettably but I love
I really owe it to myself and everyone else to give all of these a relisten just to catch up post-tourney |

09.10.18 | Sorry guys to be so late to do my last commentary about this tourney. But, as we usually say, it's better late than never.
I loved it. This was my second time but I loved both. I hope that Friday continue with these tourneys and if I can, I will participate for sure.
This tourney brought to me very important things. It brought to me many albums and bands that I never heard to talk before. It also made me check bands and albums that I knew by name but that I never have checked before. But, above all, it made me check great music moments with some great prog jewels. Still, I must confess that my great discover, the album that impressed me most was the album of Shub-Niggurath, a pearl of the dark side of prog. Last year it happened the same with me with the album of Island. You know, I'm a very eclectic guy in terms of prog, and music in general. Above all I like great music.
So, thanks to you, Friday, in this moment I'm more rich that I was before, in terms of prog. Long life to your tourneys my friend and many thanks. |

09.10.18 | "Still, I must confess that my great discover, the album that impressed me most was the album of Shub-Niggurath, a pearl of the dark side of prog. Last year it happened the same with me with the album of Island"
Indeed, we see eye to eye about this. I'll definitely get back to Shub. |
TwigTW
09.10.18 | Shub-Niggurath was robbed. I demand a recount! ;-) |
e210013
09.10.18 | It seems that are many other guys here who likes the dark side of prog, too. Great guys.
"I demand a recount! ;-)"
Let's do that. Lol. |
Divaman
09.10.18 | I still vote "Hell no!", heh heh.
I have to say, at the beginning of the tournament, I wouldn't have expected Carmen to win, not because I didn't like it (it was one of my favorites of the tournament), but just because it's an unusual album, and not at all the kind of music I would immediately think of if someone said the word "prog". But good on Carmen for stretching the boundaries of the genre. |
wham49
09.10.18 | have mine ready for the next tourney, lets roll |
e210013
09.10.18 | Yeah, Diva. "Carmen" was precisely one of the albums that I had heard great things about it before and that I never had the opportunity or the will to check. Thanks to this tournament, finally I did so. |

05.05.19 | I just graduated from law school and finally have a bit of time on my hands.
You guys know what that means: PROOOOOOOGGGGG!!! |
Papa Universe
05.05.19 | so you... progressed... in your education? |
Jethro42
05.05.19 | What a coincidence! I'm currently progging =P
Annnd second, I was to suggest you a few prog albums in days to come!...
Congrats on your graduation, man! |
Friday13th
05.05.19 | Thanks! FYI everyone, I'm planning to begin the preliminary on Wednesday and start the first round on Friday. |
bgillesp
05.06.19 | Shifting through for my rec now. I’ve got 2 ideas, but idk which would be better received. Based on the success of Slapp Happy and Henry Cow I’d go one way, but based on the hatred that same album garnered I’d go the other, haha |
e210013
05.06.19 | First of all, congrats on your graduation, man. Second, I'm very glad to know that the tradition is to continue, which means, that we are going to have another prog tourney organised by you. Third, I'm a bit worried with it due to the date of its begining. Unfortunatelly, I'm going to start a trip for six days abroad. The departure is precisely in the next Wednesday and the return is only in monday 13. So, it's absuletely quite impossible for me to be present at the beginning of it. However, it doesn't pass through my head that I can't participate in it. So, maybe I can participate as an outsider guest, as happened with Intruder, rather than participateingas a true contestant. It will be a different and interestinmg chalenge, too, I'm sure of it. Tell me something, my friend. |
Friday13th
05.06.19 | @e21 Aw that would make me too sad if you weren't in this! If it's just six days you can catch up and it will be fine. If you have an album just send it to me ASAP with a short description like usual and I'll stick it in when we start! :) |
bgillesp
05.06.19 | Yeah e just enter early. I’m sure everyone will be cool with that |

02.24.21 | Hey sorry for the necropost but I just found Shub-Niggurath original CDs in a newly(?) opened record store 20 mins from home and I still can't believe it. Scooped the debut for €25, but they also had TWO more albums damm how did I not know of that place?? |
e210013
02.24.21 | Amazing thing my friend. Congrats, great purchase.
By the way. Did you know that Friday are going to release another tournament in May? If you're interested ,it's time for you think in an album for that occasion. |
Jethro42
02.24.21 | Can't believe I gave it a 3.5. Creepy album if I remember well. Delightful for Sabrutin, that I know. Glad for you, dude! |
Sabrutin
02.25.21 | Yep, I craved Cabine 67 on my shelf.
"Did you know that Friday are going to release another tournament in May?"
Oh, that's interesting. I didn't know |
