1990 was the best year in metal in my humble opinion, and looking at the albums below you can easily see why. However, even if none of them were here, I'd still consider this year a success just because of this album.
This is my metal bible. It's the perfect album, a true masterpiece. Everything about this albums just works, and works so well. The melodies, the energies, the raw power. I honestly have no words to describe how amazing I find this album to be. | | 2 | | Megadeth Rust in Peace
To me this album represents mastery of the craft. Technical, complex, heavy, and yet harmonic and melodic. This album is a compelling, fascinating piece of musical art. | | 3 | | Pantera Cowboys from Hell
This is not the most consistent album unfortunately, but even though the lows might be low, the highs are SO high, I have no choice but to crown this as their absolute best album. This album is just filled with so many immortal, groundbreaking songs to be ignored. | | 4 | | Iron Maiden No Prayer for the Dying
After the five 'golden era' albums of the 80's, this is definitely a step down in Maiden terms, but it's still a phenomenal album on its own. Some of their best songs can be found here. | | 5 | | Slayer Seasons in the Abyss
Might be a surprise to some but this is easily my favorite Slayer album. It's the only one that actually feels like an album and not like a jumbled mess of a 28-minute single song. | | 6 | | Anthrax Persistence of Time | | 7 | | Kreator Coma of Souls | |
