Nice finds that need more love
Some records that I love and that could do with more support around here. Old & new, from hip-hop to techno, in no particular order. |
1 | | Blackwave. Mic Check
Very nice, chilled out hip-hop from Belgium. |
2 | | Indigo Jam Unit Pirates
Great Japanese instrumental jazz band, with minimal editing in the studio. Superbly consistent in their output. This is perhaps their best record, so this is a nice place to start! |
3 | | Pete Philly and Perquisite Mindstate
A golden oldie that does not get enough recognition at all. Great record, nice vibes, criminally overlooked. |
4 | | Sungrazer Sungrazer
Great stoner/desert rock from The Netherlands. Nice, fuzzy and warm guitars, great jams all through. |
5 | | Minilogue Animals
Very fine debut from Swedish minimal techno legends, with fluid and spacious tracks. In A Distance still rocks my world! |
6 | | DJ Krush Kaku-Sei
In my opinion the best album by legendary Japanese instrumental hip-hop artist DJ Krush. Cold and dark but relaxed, suited for intensive listening as well as background music for fancy parties. |
7 | | Weval Half Age
Great live act, superb discography so far. Their blend of house and trip-hop makes for some beautifully produced tracks. |
8 | | Hugo Kant Out of Time
If you liked old Bonobo, with actual instruments instead of the sappy, dance-floor friendly dishwater music he is producing now, but have always wanted something extra from him (some latin and world influences, a little more grit and darkness) look no further. All Hugo's records are great. |
9 | | Bowery Electric Beat
If you want to chill to some nice shoegaze/trip-hop beats, look no further. Great American shoegazers. |
10 | | Habitants One Self
Missing the sound of The Gathering as much as I do? Check out this project by RenΓ© Rutten (TG's guitarist), which includes some major TG-vibes Γ la How To Measure A Planet?. |
11 | | The Gathering How to Measure a Planet?
Ok, I had to do it. Best. Album. Ever. Listen and fall in love. You can thank me later. |
12 | | Snarky Puppy Sylva
Ultra groovy and funky, great band and very nice orchestra. The mix works perfectly. |
