| Metal: Cult Classics Pt. XIV
Long time. Part 14 | 1 | | Carnivore Carnivore
I just realized this record - one of the greatest and subtly one of the more original pieces of crossover thrash - has less than 100 votes. Time to bump this shit up because
GOD
*samba tune*
IS DEAD | 2 | | Pan.Thy.Monium Dawn of Dreams
The debut full length by Swano's "other" classic project. Lesser known than Edge of Sanity, but just as (maybe even more) creative and unique. Sit back and witness how the master transforms death metal into a surreal ghostly and dreamlike haze. | 3 | | Rottrevore Iniquitous
Another infamous DM classic. It brings the murk, it brings the riffs and it brings the spine, dick and balls crushing guitar tone. | 4 | | Grief Torso
Because I sure as shit needed more after the superb Come to Grief. This one features more of the band's excellently performed and singularly brand of churning and droning sludge. The riff in "Tar" might even be the most memorable in the band's catalogue. Don't sleep on this. | 5 | | Voices (UK) London
The second record by Akercocke's David Gray's side project Voices can rightfully be regarded as a modern cult classic. While the band, like Akercocke, takes an original avant-garde approach to blackened death, the music on here unfolds itself in a more grimy neo-noir fashion. Dirty, rotten and compelling, this is one not to be missed. | 6 | | Angelcorpse Exterminate
After the legendary Order From Chaos, Helmkamp decided to move into a more blistering and early Morbid Angel-influenced approach. Warlike metal that riffs for days. What's not to like? | 7 | | Varathron Walpurgisnacht
The second record by the Greek legends is as mandatory as the first. Ritualistic, almost darkly tranquil Hellenic black metal. | 8 | | Sorhin I Det Glimrande Mörkrets Djup
Slightly forgotten classic of Swedish BM that, while keeping the melody of their other counterparts, takes a more punk-ish approach. It's about time more metal fans rediscover this little gem. | 9 | | Mourning Beloveth Dust
The debut by Ireland's death-doom finest. Features the finest showcase of guitar player/backing vocalist Frank Brennan's first-class clean singing as well as a myriad of doomy goodness. | 10 | | Spite Extreme Wing Vltra
Italian black metal with progressive rock and neo-folk influences that has an almost "spaghetti western" feel to it - another one that comes highly recommended. | |

07.01.18 | have 1 on vinyl and i totally agree that it shits on their second album | Thalassic
07.01.18 | @Papa Universe
Hahaha just bumping some underrated quality metalz
Carnivore's debut indeed is incredibly underrated compared to the second one; though I obviously love both | Grimlin
07.01.18 | 1 is my favorite metal album from '85. I agree, Retaliation wasn't quite as good, but just by a hair, and it's still one of my favorites from '87. Also, I've always had a soft spot for Vltra. Great album. | RippingCorpse1986
07.01.18 | 8 really needs a review. Very remarkable album imo. | Deathconscious
07.01.18 | FIGHTING, FEASTING, FUCKING ALL I CAN | Casavir
07.12.18 | 10 is great. | Egarran
07.12.18 | Dismal Euphony - Soria Moria Slott.
Black atmo metal with the best female vocals you can dream of. Some of the melodies here are immortal.
Unfortunately it has one of the worst productions. The fact that this is enjoyable is only due to music.

07.14.18 | Hey, what do you think of The House of Atreus? You mentioned The Marriage of Heaven and Hell and Invictus but not those two. |
