My Top 2018 Albums So Far

2018 has had a rocky 6 months for music. Not every artist turned out as it seemed, but there have been a few gems to mention. Here are a handful of my picks from 2018 so far. As always, feel free to share your opinion, your 2018 picks, and your recommendations.
5Mike Shinoda
Post Traumatic EP

Post Traumatic broke the silence after the tragic death of Chester Bennington. Mike Shinoda, in turn, gave us one of his most passionate and life changing performances of the year. While wounds still fresh, Post Traumatic teaches us the cycle never stops and life presses onwards. In just 14 days, the Post Traumatic LP will hit the shelves, and hopefully, our hearts as well.
4Pennywise
Never Gonna Die

If the first 3 are no indication, 2018 is a year of comebacks. Pennywise sent shockwaves in the 90's as one of punks best outfits. Their rioting positivity and extreme live shows gave them a following of the most loyal fans. After a shaky lineup change in the 2000's, Pennywise regained their original lineup and wasted no time in dishing out Never Gonna Die. Its infectious positivity and ruthless sound are more than enough to call it one of Pennywise best.
3William Ryan Key
Thirteen

Although hitting the shelves last week, Thirteen is the EP from Yellowcard frontman Ryan Key. After 20 years of service, the pop-punk legends hung it up in 2017 and went their separate ways. WRK came out of nowhere with Thirteen and showed us a somber side to his arsenal. With moving lyrics and articulate rhythms, Thirteen earns its keep as one of 2018's best.
2MGMT
Little Dark Age

Little Dark Age surprised me in how good it was. MGMT had yet to follow up on Oracular Spectacular's decade defining magic. Little Dark Age hit full force and reminded us MGMT was down but not out.
1A Perfect Circle
Eat the Elephant

My personal pick from 2018 comes as no surprise. APC may not have given every fan what they wanted, but they sure gave us what we needed. As polarizing as it is, Eat the Elephant changed our perception of A Perfect Circle as we know them. Maynard's exemplary vocal performance combined with the records creativity makes this one of 2018's gems.
