After The Burial. Ranked.
Pretty sure this band has never been ranked before. Well, now it has. After the Burial is a very underrated band, I feel. Even though many people may dismiss them as just another 'shitty djent/deathcore/prog metal' band. I would implore those people to reconsider their opinion. |
| 1 | | After The Burial Rareform (Re-release)
The re-release really fixed the poor production issues that hindered the original album. This really is a solid metal album. I think there's something here for pretty much any metal listener. Melodies? Check. Grooves? BIG CHECK. Progressive and technical guitar work? CHECK. Breakdowns? More than you could ever desire. Stacked beginning to end with memorable riffs, solos and more. Seminal for the band.

| 2 | | After The Burial Wolves Within
I wasn't originally impressed by this album and pretty much ignored it. That was true, at least until I heard 'Neo Seoul'. Wow. Just wow.
Rating 3.5-4/5
Favourite Tracks:
Neo Seoul (If someone asked for just ONE song in order to make their judgement about this band, this would be it.)
A Wolf Amongst Ravens
Pennyweight

| 3 | | After The Burial Dig Deep
I was hooked on this from the moment I heard it. After the tragic death of their guitarist and key founding member Justin Lowe, the future of the band seemed uncertain. This album really showed that they could move on and continue to create great music. The only reason this album is ranked below Wolves Within is that I find it to be a little bit repetitive and filler-y at times. Great album.

Laurentian Ghosts ( A phenomenal song, although nearly ruined by a dumb sound effect) |
| 4 | | After The Burial In Dreams
A good album definitely. Although, nothing really blows me away on this album, unlike the others. It's just 'good'.

| 5 | | After The Burial Forging a Future Self
A really solid album let down by a rough and amateurish production. Contains 'A Steady Decline' which is one of their best songs. They released an EP in 2013 called 'This Life is All We Had' which contains a re-recorded version of the three best songs from this album. It sounds so much better. If they had re-released the whole album like that, as they did with 'Rareform', it would be ranked much higher.
Rating as is: 3/5
Rating if remixed (see 'This Life is All We Have'): 3.5-4/5
