05.01.18 | My favorite game overall is Rock Band 2, with Guitar Hero 3 being second. |
Rowhaus
05.01.18 | guitar hero 3 probably |
BREAKDOWNS
05.01.18 | 1 and 2 tied for worst, virtually fucking unplayabale, warriors has the best engine, world tpur has the greatest song selection. |
SteakByrnes
05.01.18 | I liked 3 and World Tour |
AlexKzillion
05.01.18 | Every GH Game ranked (haven't played the first one or the new one)
GH3
Metallica
Warriors of Rock
Smash Hits
Van Halen
Aerosmith
GH2
World Tour
GH5
Never really liked rock band that much. |
SymbolicInTime
05.02.18 | Agreed on 1 and 2 being virtually unplayable. The hammer-ons and pull-offs were just a nightmare. I preferred the Rock Band series mostly from an aesthetic viewpoint. |
AlexKzillion
05.02.18 | Seriously wonder where I'd be in life rn if my mom never bought me gh3 when I was like 9. |
BREAKDOWNS
05.02.18 | lmao having metallica over anything is abhorrent. note mapping on that game was so fucking painfully lazy, as was the main story mode. plus the song choices are horrible. |
SymbolicInTime
05.02.18 | I know what ya mean, Alex. I got gh1 for my 8th birthday and was given almost every subsequent entry as they released. Ate up so much time lol |
AlexKzillion
05.02.18 | "lmao having metallica over anything is abhorrent."
You can't pretend you're James Hetfield and yell all the words into your TV while playing the other games tho can you?
"note mapping on that game was so fucking painfully lazy"
ehh maybe
"as was the main story mode."
So like every gh story mode that isn't Warriors?
"plus the song choices are horrible."
The non-Metallica songs sure, I never really cared for that though. |
BlazinBlitzer
05.02.18 | Rock Band 3, easily. |
BREAKDOWNS
05.02.18 | 1. no, nor do i want to, 2. metallica was EXTRA lazy with it tho, you can beat it in like 30 minutes which is fucking absurb |
TheSonomaDude
05.02.18 | Guitar Hero 3 is the best. Also liked Guitar Hero 6 because of the massive fuckin metal soundtrack. Guitar Hero Metallica is really good too but I wish there were more songs in it.
"plus the song choices are horrible." - no, not really. The issue was that they excluded some good songs but what was in the game was good |
SymbolicInTime
05.02.18 | Can definitely say I logged more than 30 min on Metallica lmao. I played through it once on expert guitar and once on expert drums though |
BREAKDOWNS
05.02.18 | you probably think that master of puppets and ride the lightning are good tho so :/// |
TheSonomaDude
05.02.18 | yeah FUCK those songs GH:M needed more Reload and St Angerrrrr |
theacademy
05.02.18 | 1. persona dancing all night
2. project diva
3. osu
4. guitar hero 3
|
SymbolicInTime
05.02.18 | If you dont like those albums, what exactly did you want them to fill a Metallica guitar hero game with? Everything post black album? |
SymbolicInTime
05.02.18 | "yeah FUCK those songs GH:M needed more Reload and St Angerrrrr" [2] |
BREAKDOWNS
05.02.18 | you're talking to someone who only likes and justice for all so idk |
BREAKDOWNS
05.02.18 | also hell yes acad 1 is 1 |
TheSonomaDude
05.02.18 | AJFA is their best album agreed but still it is weird to complain that GH:M had poor song choices if you only like one album by them |
goy
05.02.18 | i only really play Hangar 18 and Cliffs of Dover anymore because they soothe my autism. I wish they came on the same disc but overall I'd say GHII was probably the best |
BREAKDOWNS
05.02.18 | "still it is weird to complain that GH:M had poor song choices if you only like one album by them"
good point, I'm kinda trash lmao |
AlexKzillion
05.02.18 | To be fair there wasn't enough AJFA on that game.
Like there's just as much Death Magnetic songs as there is AJFA songs. |
SymbolicInTime
05.02.18 | To be fair, Death Magnetic songs were fun af to play at the time. Tbh, when playing these games, I was infinitely more interested in how fun/challenging the songs were. If I liked the songs or not weren't very relevant to me. But, yeah, could have used more ajfa |
MO
05.02.18 | GH 2 and 3 were my jam. was a little too good at them lol |
SymbolicInTime
05.02.18 | My happiest moment on gh3 was when I finally passed through the fire and the flames on expert lol |
MO
05.02.18 | that intro man |
SymbolicInTime
05.02.18 | "that intro man" fuck don't even get me started. That shit was the only reason I couldn't pass it for so long. And that part isn't even actual guitar. It made me so butthurt lol
|
AlexKzillion
05.02.18 | I can't remember if I ever passed Through the Fire and the Flames on expert, which probably means I didn't lol
9/10 times I couldn't even make it through the intro... and if I got through that I'd lose on the guitar solo.
Hell I only beat the devil once |
MeatSalad
05.02.18 | Interesting seeing people bash guitar hero 2, back before the genre became super saturated it got a lot of praise for being such a huge improvment over the first |
MeatSalad
05.02.18 | Guess it doesn't hold up well at all though, especially since 80% of the game is covers. Rock band 3 is the best game to come out of the whole fad despite a kinda shitty setlist |
SymbolicInTime
05.02.18 | Hell yeah Bloon, I still bust out rb2 a few times a year and play for a couple hours |
MO
05.02.18 | the GH aerosmith was actually suprisingly awesome too, logged a lot of hours into that too |
Ocean of Noise
05.02.18 | It's such a funny thing... I was obsessed with Guitar Hero for a few years but nowadays I have no interest in playing it. Maybe because I eventually discovered that just sitting and listening to music was far more entertaining than playing it on a plastic guitar.
Anyways, my favourite was probably either GH3 or GH: Metallica. Pretty sure I owned GH3, WT, GH5, Aerosmith, Metallica, Smash Hits, and Rock Band 2. All sold now but I feel next to no desire to get them back. |
onionbubs
05.02.18 | green day rock band is the only one i ever actively played. was like a dream come true in elementary school
played I think rock band 2 recently at a friends house and we just did down with the sickness over and over again lmao |
AlexKzillion
05.02.18 | Kind of wish I still owned some gh stuff
I always drop a couple bucks when I see gh3 in those arcades at the beach though. |
AlexKzillion
05.02.18 | Oh yeah one time when I was like 10 I was at Best Buy and they had the beatles rock band set up and I played come together on expert and like eight strangers gathered around me and I didn't realize it and when the song ended I was just like what the fuuuuuuuuck |
SymbolicInTime
05.02.18 | Lmao I had the same experience at Best Buy except with War Pigs on gh2 |
AlexKzillion
05.02.18 | Yeah people who never really played the game thought you were a god if you could play on expert and not suck... shit was crazy |
neekafat
05.02.18 | Guitar Hero 3 and Warriors of Rock were classics |
TheSonomaDude
05.02.18 | thru the fire and flames was awful lmao, I was at least decent at the rest of the song but the intro would fuck me over every time. I remember as a kid using the "never fail" cheat code to get past the intro and i'd get like a 89% on expert. later I found out the intro WASN'T EVEN ON THE FUCKING GUITAR at all, and I was pissed.
still never managed to master the intro. :( |
mortifierftw
05.02.18 | Im with neekafat, Guitar Hero 3 is the most nostalgic game for me ever, and Warriors of Rock was like Guitar Hero 5 with actually good guitar songs
and World Tour was pretty dope too |
kintups55
05.02.18 | It's crazy to think how in about 5 years time we went from Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero 3 being the go to party games to both series being dead franchises. |
TheSonomaDude
05.02.18 | always wanted to see a decent revival of either game...not that shitty Guitar Hero Live bullshit |
bloc
05.02.18 | I don't own a console anymore, but I actually miss these guitar games. Had they been managed properly, they'd still be hot instead of just being a fad. |
SymbolicInTime
05.02.18 | I have more consoles than I probably should lol. Have any of you ever tried Rocksmith? It was basically Guitar Hero except you had to hook up a real guitar and play the actual notes and everything. It was pretty fun, but obviously substantially more difficult. |
ZombieToyDuck
05.02.18 | used to really love playing Arterial Black by Drist from gh2 the solo was so much fucking fun |
kintups55
05.02.18 | @bloc Thank Activision for over saturating the market with 6 variations of Guitar Hero games in a 9 month span to the point where everyone was sick of the influx of "Hero" games and wanted them gone.
@TheWonderSoFar I play Rocksmith regularly, it's fun. Obviously more of a learning tool and not the same casual fun that Guitar Hero/RB was, but very useful to learn some guitar with. |
SymbolicInTime
05.02.18 | Arterial Black was such a fun song.
I played Rock Smith until it started not recognizing the stings correctly. I had to play the wrong notes in order for anything to register after a while, so it kind of defeated the purpose. |
ZombieToyDuck
05.02.18 | also TROGDORRRRRRR!! |
bloc
05.02.18 | I wonder what the guys who played Dragonforce blindfolded are up to now |
ZombieToyDuck
05.02.18 | what about the dudes who got 100% on jordan? |
SymbolicInTime
05.02.18 | "also TROGDORRRRRRR!!" [2]
"I wonder what the guys who played Dragonforce blindfolded are up to now" honestly some of the old popular gh YouTube channels from back in the day are still just making gh videos lmao |
TheSonomaDude
05.02.18 | there are a bunch of people still making GH3 vids, which is why I think the game will make some sort of comeback in the near future, it certainly still has the fanbase.
Rocksmith was fun for a while but yeah the game stopped recognizing my guitar after a few months. I also had a GH rip-off game called Rock Revolution on PS3 that had a pretty good setlist, but the song covers were hilariously bad and the note chart scrolled 2D top-down instead of 3D towards the screen, and it made the game virtually unplayable...didn't stop me from beating the game tho :( highly doubt anyone on here has even heard of it |
AlexKzillion
05.02.18 | My friend beat Jordan on hard one time and I thought it was the craziest shit I'd ever seen. |
SymbolicInTime
05.02.18 | Yeah, Rock Revolution sucked. I also had Pop Star Guitar. Was even worse |
ZombieToyDuck
05.02.18 | I had ALMOST passed it on expert after a ridiculous amount of attempts but that solo is insanity... and I can't play hard at alllll the tempo is too slow. |

05.02.18 | I think it was rock band like 2 or something but that’s how I got into Mars Volta. Fuck that game for that. |
Allergist
05.02.18 | The first GH game was revolutionary and I played the first 2 a lot. Never got around to 3 but I didn’t really care anymore. Some of those games got pretty ridiculous if I recall...Band Hero løl |
SymbolicInTime
05.02.18 | damn I forgot band hero even existed lmao |
CalculatingInfinity
05.03.18 | If you could get used to the engine Rock Band 2 was the best overall. Best community, rock solid setlist, fun career mode...flawless really. GH3 and Warriors of Rock were easily the best GH games, along with Metallica if you're a fan of the band. Best thing now is to see the top players in the world do the stuff the songs they are currently doing, Soulless 4 FC is coming baby! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Y0eBfbXVq4 |
AlexKzillion
08.19.19 | Bumping this thread because I've been fucking BINGING clone hero these past couple days after my friend let me borrow one of his old gh guitars. It's pretty much a "clone" of the Warriors of Rock engine that you can upload and play custom charts on and I don't think I've ever been more addicted to gh than I am now |
SymbolicInTime
08.19.19 | Always heard of CH and was interested but never checked it our |
Tundra
08.19.19 | clone hero is the future my d00ds |
AlexKzillion
08.19.19 | If you’re a “hardcore” player (by that I mean like you could pretty easily beat the games on expert without much trouble) there’s literally no point of buying a new GH game when clone hero exists. For casual players it might be a different story but idk how many of those still exist. |
Minushuman24
08.19.19 | Guitar hero 3 yoooo |
beefshoes
08.19.19 | GH1 most likely. I had so much fun with my middle school friends playing this and the other games, and thanks to it and Rock Band, almost everyone within and outside of my circle of friends that I knew at some point, picked up guitar or bass (which eventually culminated in an awesome and fun music scene even in rural West Virginia). These games were definitely a large part of what made the mid-to-late 2000s as awesome as they were, they had a massive cultural impact, and since those games faded in popularity, I have definitely noticed that the generation right below mine is not nearly as interested in forming bands (or making music in general). There is no music scene, and I have been hearing similar things from friends across the state. :/ |
AlexKzillion
08.19.19 | Yeah it’s really sad. I probably would’ve never picked up an instrument, and probably wouldn’t even be on this site if it wasn’t for these games |
rockandmetaljunkie
08.19.19 | I hate this game.
Seriously... |
bloc
08.19.19 | Gibson wouldn't have to file for bankruptcy if this game series was still alive |
neekafat
08.19.19 | Warriors of Rock is so underrated |
