Ready Player One
This was a bad book that shouldn't have been a movie. While I'm glad that this movie will probably spike interest in sci-fi/cyberpunk stuff, it's *so* shitty. It does *nothing* entertaining with an interesting concept that could feasibly be seen in our lifetime. The humor is hit and miss, the plot is unbelievably stupid, and it's not worth sitting through over 2 hours just to have a nostalgia circlejerk over, like, a gundam. Oh look, it's tracer. wow battletoads. cool its general sheppard. I will give props to the sets and worlds shown (there's a scene involving the shining. it's pretty good.) and the action was entertaining, i guess? 4/10 | | 2 |  | FM-84

Black Panther
Like Ready P1, this movie was way too fucking long. There were like 2 good action scenes. I can't believe they stuck in a 'WHAT ARE THOOOSE' joke, jfc. And they gave it to the only interesting character in the movie, too(the scientist sister). Seriously, I couldn't care for the main character whose plot development seemed to just be 'oh i wish the girl liked me!'. Killmonger should've been a character I love - he's the classic tragic villain, and i'm a sucker for that - but I didn't like the performance *and* he gets killed off at the end??? what the fuck?? The Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to give its villains a lot of lenience with not dying, and for them to give a pretty complex villain a rather anticlimatic death was just upsetting. In the same vein of Ready P1, i greatly enjoyed the setting of Wakanda, and while the action was few and far between, it was done well. 5/10 | | 1 |  | Kacey Musgraves

The Strangers: Prey At Night
You know why this is my favorite one? Because it's only 100 minutes. No unnecessary bullshit. It introduces our nuclear family, gives them like ten, fifteen minutes of exposition, and gets right into it. It's a clever-enough thriller where it's easy to root for the heroes. Yeah, there's some stupid shit, but an acceptable level of stupid shit for a movie like The Strangers. Just enough unnecessary theatrics on the titular 'Strangers' part. Loved the 80's soundtrack. Shot pretty well. The neon-lit pool scene is great. 7/10 | |

04.01.18 | I quite enjoyed Ready Player One personally, it was fun. The plot is dumb, there's no character development whatsoever, and it is overlong, but the visual effects were really well done and it delivered what I was expecting - a feast for the eyes with an interesting world to explore. Can't disagree with your criticisms though, but I will say I think the referencing thing was actually handled pretty good, it wasn't constanlty like "woah, that's ___ from ___", "wow how cool is it that ___ is there", they were just an accepted part of the the environment mostly. | gryndstone
