Essential early metalcore

10 early metalcore albums that stick out to me as absolutely essential listens. More recs are welcome. No particular order. Only one album per band. Everything is pre-2000.
1Poison the Well
The Opposite of December

Pretty much a genre defining record. If you listen to nothing else off this list, give this one a shot.
2Cave In
Until Your Heart Stops

Still shocked over the news from today, Caleb Scofield's screams and basslines were such a strong foundation for this band, especially on this album. RIP
3Botch
We Are the Romans

Obvious choice, but it's a mathcore classic.
4Coalesce
0:12 Revolution in Just Listening

Most people would probably say that Slipknot's s/t was the angriest album of 1999. Most people also probably haven't heard of Coalesce.
5The Dillinger Escape Plan
Calculating Infinity

Not my favourite Dillinger record (fight me), but very important in the development of mathcore and experimental metal. Took influence from jazz as well as chaotic hardcore bands like Botch and Deadguy.
6Zao
Liberate Te Ex Inferis

Despite being a Christian band, the material on this record (and Where Blood and Fire Bring Rest) is as dark as, if not darker than a lot of death and black metal I've heard before.
7Integrity
Those Who Fear Tomorrow

Usually considered the first metalcore record. Bass tone on this is phenomenal.
8Deadguy
Fixation on a Coworker

Dissonant, cacophonous and absolutely relentless. Don't skip this one if you haven't heard it.
9Rorschach
Protestant

Another very early record, also played an important role in the powerviolence scene.
10Starkweather
Crossbearer

This album combined metalcore with experimental, doom and death metal. That made this record (and this band) as twisted and as dark as the person the band got its name from.
