| ~ these are a few of my favorite things ♫ ~ ;*
Lately, I've been trying to really embrace my interests, whether it be television shows, movies, music, video games etc... This list is some of the stuff I've been jiving on lately. | | 1 | | Dance Gavin Dance Artificial Selection
Over the last two or three years Dance Gavin Dance has become a band I've really come to love. They're kind of zany but can also be overwhelmingly serious and of course, everything in between. Every iteration brings something new and exciting to the table and I really can't pick favorite anymore. I've been lucky enough engage in a relationship with a women who always loves DGD, and that's really catapulted how much I enjoy them. There's no great emotional attachment, no crazy nostalgic story, I just love their music, plain and simple. The announcement of the new album is EXTREMELY exciting (for me) and undoubtedly I've already begun another descent into a(nother) one to two month DGD binge. | | 2 | | Vegeta 95 American Dragon Ball
I first discovered the Dragonball franchise thanks to Burger King and that awesome line of weird mini-statues they rolled out in the early 2000's. Since then, it's become an obsession of sorts. I'd spend hours drawing characters, digging on the internet for translated scans of the manga (this was before they were all released in English, obvs), buying VHS tapes that only had 3-4 episodes each, and playing Tenkaichi Budokai for hours with my friends. Of course as I grew up my interest waned, but since Dragonball Super started up I've been back into it heavy. Playing the games, reading up on lore (yes, there is some!) and like clockwork checking on Youtube every Saturday night for subs of the newest episode.I know it falls into the "sillier" catagory as far as manga/anime goes, but I love it regardless. Tonight is the last for DBS and while I'm sad, it's obvious Dragonball still has a lot in store for us. | | 3 | | Power Rangers Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Album: A Rock Adv
This one I'm not as obsessed with anymore, but as a child I very much was. The first time I saw the green ranger, that color became my favorite, and I definitely still have a lingering affection for the first few seasons of the show. It's kitsch-y and terrible, but sooo much fun. The recent movie wasn't bad, and if you consider yourself a fan (or if you're just feeling nostalgic) you should check out the trailer for Shattered Future on youtube. It looks pretty darn good. | | 4 | | Howard Shore The Lord of the Rings: Complete Trilogy
I've gotten to the point with The Lord of the Rings where even when I watch the extended versions they pass by too quickly for my liking. This was a fandom I got myself into DEEP and while I know that I know A LOT, there is still SOOO much more that I don't. I try to digest as much LOTR lore as I can, and recently I've really been getting back into it. | | 5 | | Grant Kirkhope Banjo-Tooie
Oh how I miss N64 and these oddball sense of humor type of games. I recently went out and bought copy of this (and Banjo Kazooie ofc) but I don't have anything to play them on (yet). Either way, I've been watching some play throughs and it really brings me back to feeling like a 10 yr old and that sense of wonder games like this evoked. | |

03.24.18 | this was going to be longer but I'm distracting ATM :* what are some of your favorite things? | parksungjoon
03.24.18 | howard shore did a bang up job with the score to lotr man, it's absolutely incredible | TheSpirit
03.24.18 | hard agree... one of my favorite sounds of all time | Sinternet
03.24.18 | i used to be like that with LoTR as well when I was like 13/14 - these days I still enjoy it but not nearly to the same extent as I did. Children of Hurin is still a fantastic book though and one of my all-time faves.
I completely relate to 5 though, but I think that style is slowly coming back into fashion thankfully. If you haven't alredy done so, go play A Hat in Time, it's easily the best 3D platformer of the last 5 years (along with Super Mario Odyssey of course) | parksungjoon
03.24.18 | i think what doesnt help the story of lotr is the basic morality and mostly shallow characters
i thought the films made good efforts in improving on that without completely changing the story | parksungjoon
03.24.18 | btw in before they make another like 10 db films after super is over |
