Upcoming Shows

Pretty self-explanatory, feel free to chime in with other shows/recs based on the bands.
1Pianos Become the Teeth
Wait For Love

Playing Metro Gallery in Baltimore tomorrow, 2/24. Haven't heard the new album in full yet (deliberately so, but may end up caving this evening), but definitely excited for this hometown show. They were in fine form when I saw them open for Thursday back in December, a bit less so opening for mewithoutYou a little earlier last year, but both times only played "Charisma," so looking forward to a lengthier, more diverse set with some new tunes.

Lights Went Out

Opening for Pianos. Honestly not familiar with them at all, to the point that I'm not even sure the one listed on Sputnik is the same band, but we shall see. Also opening is a group called Unholy Sights, who don't even have a Sputnik page; as you may have surmised, basically same boat with them.
3Senses Fail
Let It Enfold You

Playing Baltimore Soundstage on 3/10. Mainly going to this because a friend of mine is a huge fan, as I frankly never really listened far beyond Let It Enfold You, and even that was way back in my high school salad days. So hopefully there are a few deep cuts in store. That said, I have few weeks yet, so if anybody's got suggestions for where else to look for quality in their (surprisingly dense) discography, feel free to let me know.
4Reggie and The Full Effect
41

Opening for Senses Fail. Another band I truly never really delved into, although I have to at least give props to that latest album cover, which is pretty hilarious. Also liked Get Up Kids well enough, so certainly at the very least intrigued by what's in store here.
5Have Mercy
The Earth Pushed Back

Also opening for SF. Love the hell out of this album, but boy did this band fall off, and hard. A Place of Our Own was decent, but in retrospect maybe coasting on some fumes from the debut, so some luster has worn off, but their latest did just about the opposite of its namesake. So, again, fingers crossed for some deep cuts.
6Household (MN)
Time Spent

Also also opening for SF. Yeah, gonna be a long show. But, fortuitously enough, actually just started getting into this band, before I even knew they were on the lineup, so pretty stoked about that, although they'll likely have the shortest set of the lot.
7Efrim Manuel Menuck
Pissing Stars

Playing the 9:30 Club in D.C. on 3/24. Tryna grab the new album sooner rather than later, although somehow I doubt he'll stick to the studio arrangements on-stage. Still, this is largely a shot of redemption for me, since the closest I've ever come to seeing Godspeed live was when the opened for Nine Inch Nails (right?) many, many moons ago, and traffic made us late enough that we caught about the final 5 minutes of their set. So, y'know, essentially just some droning feedback as they walked off-stage. Very, very different vibe with this act, I'm sure--but dammit, just let me have this.
9Between the Buried and Me
Automata I

Playing the Fillmore in Silver Spring on 4/5. On the fence with this show, but through no fault of the bands playing--or, at least, not directly. BtBaM is coheadlining with Dear Hunter, which is a bizarre, jarring, and yet wholly fantastic pairing, if it weren't for the fact that I also just saw each of them do their own shows in the past several months (and BtBaM was on their Colors reunion tour at the time, which for me is just about peak, give or take a "Backwards Marathon" here or "Swim to the Moon" there).
10The Dear Hunter
All Is As All Should Be

Still, as anyone who's seen Casey Crescenzo live can attest, his between-song banter alone can make it worth the hike. The fact that this show is in Silver Spring on a weeknight, though, may be the deciding factor (granted, it's a Thursday--aka, the Friday of the Week). But if it were in Baltimore, I'd be there in a heartbeat.
11Leprous
Malina

Opening for BtBaM/Dear Hunter. Another one for the 'pro' column here, since I've dug this band for a bit, but haven't had the chance to check them out live yet. Have also yet to fully delve into their newest album, so if nothing else, the potential of going to this show is a good excuse to do so.
12Hop Along
Painted Shut

Playing the Ottobar in Baltimore on 5/5. Haven't seen any openers announced yet, but even on the astronomic off-chance this ends up being a solo set, still easily worth the $15. Needless to say, very excited for this one, and hopefully the new album dropping in the meantime only fuels that further.
