TheSpirit's 2018 WK2 - listen,thoughts, and thots
1Septulchu
Food For Moloch

VERY raw blackened death metal. It's like Bathory and Possessed run through a grinder while a TV that can't get reception blasts white noise from the background.
2Megalith Grave/Nihil Invocation
Malicious Curses Reached in Drawing Night

Raw black metal can be pretty expansive, and these two bands demonstrate it well. Megalith Grave has the guitar tones of Nattens Madrigal Ulver, and doubles down on droning trem riffs. Nihil Invocation have a more muffled sound, and relies more on mid-paced savagery. It's a little much on the rawness, but the contrast in their styles is nice.
3Arcane Cavern
Sorcery of Chaos

Arcane Cavern really put the dungeon in dungeon synth. Adopting the pensive droning of dark ambient, Sorcery of Chaos drags out the torture, embellishing long drawn out notes more than than usual DS tinkering.
4Estuarine
Sic Erat Scriptum

Jazzy extreme experi-metal
5Typhoon (USA-OR)
