Bands I got into this winter

That I am slowly becoming Obsessed with.
1The National
Sleep Well Beast

I usually listen to this front to back, and never look at my phone until its over, so I don't know any of the tracks here, but there's something enchanting about this band. I was turned off by the vocals, which at first sound like he's muttering in your ear, but then I realized that that muttering is speaking deep truths and has a lot of depth to it, even if there isnt much range.
2Manchester Orchestra
A Black Mile to the Surface

I love this record. Surprise of the year, especially since I was so lukewarm on their other releases. As i have said so before, the 3 part epic of The Alien/Sunshine/Grocery is my musical moment of the whole year.
3Grizzly Bear
Painted Ruins

I at first thought this band was a Diamond youth side project, due to the similarity of the vocals, and boy was I wrong. This has so much depth and beauty to it that I am still processing weeks after the first listen.
4Ariel Pink
Dedicated to Bobby Jameson

Something about the hazy pop rock in this is addicting. The vocals are ceaselessly fascinating--and weird, like all the best music is.
