My top 11 albums of 2017
Normally I do a top 10 but this one goes to 11. |
11 | | Fen Winter
Fen may have converted me into a Black Metal fan. Now it's time to paint my face and get lost in the woods. |
10 | | Pallbearer Heartless
A beautiful and haunting journey with so many great moments. |
9 | | Archspire Relentless Mutation
"Relentless" is the best word to describe this album. |
8 | | Warbringer Woe to the Vanquished
Old school thrash done right! Saw them open for Iced Earth a few years back and have been a fan ever since. You have the right to remain violent! |
7 | | Steven Wilson To the Bone
I prefer the more prog sound of Steven Wilson but To The Bone is a welcome change. Maybe he will start getting the mainstream recognition he wants so bad? |
6 | | Lor In Forgotten Sleep
This one didn't click with me until recently. I grew up loving power metal but have strayed away in my later years. Production quality aside; this album has given me hope for the future of the sub-genre. |
5 | | Impure Wilhelmina Radiation
Impure Wilhelmina might be my favorite new discovery of 2017. This album is so catchy! |
4 | | Artificial Brain Infrared Horizon
Sci-Fi themed Tech Death isn't something new so it's impressive how fresh Artificial Brain sound. Seeing them open for Cattle Decapitation was awesome! The singer is on top of his eyewear game. |
3 | | Kardashev The Almanac
A short journey through the cosmos. "Between Sea and Sky" might be my favorite track of the year. Can't wait to hear what these guys do next. |
2 | | Ulver The Assassination of Julius Caesar
I rarely wander outside the boundaries of metal but I'm glad I did. |
1 | | Elder (USA-MA) Reflections of a Floating World
How do you follow up a masterpiece that is Lore? Make something ALMOST as good. |
