Concerts I've Been to This Year
1Avenged Sevenfold
The Stage

3 Arena, Dublin. January.

Yeah, I know. This isn't exactly the most popular band on this site. I've heard it all. But if it wasn't for how good The Stage was I probably wouldn't have bothered. I was pleasantly surprised by how good these guys are live complete with their Cirque du Soleil set up and even some unexpected songs played such as an instrumental version of Warmess on the Soul. I wouldn't mind seeing them again sometime.
2Trivium
The Sin and the Sentence

The Academy, Dublin. February.
My second time seeing them live and, despite the stigma they have among the metal community, they are a lot of fun to see live. It was promising that Matt went back to the harsher vocals before their new album was released, which I did really enjoy.
3Iron Maiden
The Book of Souls

3 Arena, Dublin. May.
My 3rd time seeing them. And sure enough I'll be seeing them again next year in Belfast. It's still amazing how a group of 60-somethings have all the energy and endurance of teenagers, and it was awesome hearing the material off of their Book of Souls album live. In fact, they released their Live album a few months later and I could swear I see myself in the crowd of a wide shot in the booklet. So it doesn't matter what else I accomplish in my animation career. I'm in an Iron Maiden album!
4Guns N' Roses
Appetite for Destruction

Slane Castle, Meath County. May.
I ended up going through a really bad bout of depression due to some personal issues that had surfaced up in unexpected ways, but seeing Slash and Duff back with Axl definitely helped to alleviate some of the symptoms, even if it did rain most of the day there. I was fortunate enough to be able to get a gold circle ticket so I could get up close to them. And it was a pleasant surprise that they did a cover of Black Hole Sun after Chris Cornells death. It was such a touching and respectful tribute.
5Queens of the Stone Age
Villains

3 Arena, Dublin. November.
I always wanted to see these guys since I discovered them when I was a teenager. Admittedly, I was pretty peeved that I could only get a seated ticket instead of standing to try getting up close to Josh Homme. Though maybe that was a good thing after the whole face-kicking fiasco. Still a hugely enjoyable performance.
