brosephmcbrah 11.16.17	The books really only start being "in order" around 50 or so. I've tried to post this list like 5 other times and sput shit the bed and erased it. Rec me books and music.
dbizzles 11.16.17	Cool, holmes. Check into Jerusalem by Alan Moore (rec'd because of From Hell, covers some similar ideas without all the gore) and Raw Shark Texts by Steven Hall (always comes up as similar to House of Leaves and while I can see why, it also feels like a stretch- enjoyed the book, though) if you're interested. Question for you. Obviously you dig Only Revolutions or it wouldn't be on the list, but what is good about it? I have been meaning to read it- I have a copy- it just looks like a pain in the ass and the things I've read about the contents didn't sell me. I've read House of Leaves, which I love more every single day and I've read The Fifty Year Sword, which, while interesting enough, was mostly just really brief and decent.

brosephmcbrah 11.16.17	@dbizzles honestly I hated The Fifty Year Swoard. Only Revolutions was just straight up fun to read. It bounces you back and forth and you look like a crazy person reading it in public because you're constantly turning the book around and upside down. Def check out The Familiar series. I just finished the first one (out of what will be 27) and it's pretty tight. Might actually be better than OR, but time will tell. @Asleep I can't get into Regina Spektor for some reason. I'm gonna keep trying because I've only tried SK and Cheap Seats so far, and only gave them a couple spins before giving up.

dbizzles 11.16.17	I'll be sure to finally check Only Revolutions. Got a solid queue of books and graphic novels right now though. Also got my eye on The Familiar series, but I don't like to wait for more material so I'm going to hold off as long as I can. I'm going to read Fifty Year Sword again soon since it's so short. I feel like I had to have missed something.

Archelirion 11.17.17	I can't even pretend to be close to the same level as this, but the fact you genre'd every book is so helpful to a reading pleb like myself. I started re-reading The Series of Unfortunate Events books last summer (I read them as a child) and they're as wonderful to read as ever, if probably more miserable now. Seeing Ben Howard, Converge, the Smithies and My Chem sharing space on a list makes me happy too

DinosaurJones 11.17.17	hey, lots of good stuff on here. A Series of Unfortunate Events are spectacularly written, even if intended for a young adult audience. I absolutely love Bone as well. I've tried several times to get through "House of Leaves," but it still hasn't happened. I'll try and give it another shot once I finish up the Dresden Files.
dbizzles 11.17.17	I've heard people say they've had trouble getting through House Of Leaves, but man that thing sucked me in, took me to weird places and I needed to finish it ASAP. I hope to read it again in a few years.

brosephmcbrah 11.17.17	@dinosaur definitely take your time with it. It's a fucking beast but the more you get into it, the better it gets. You get to a point in the middle where, for the rest of the time and even sometime after finishing it, all you can think about all day is the book. It's haunting.

Chortles 11.18.17	excellent list, lot's of lovely choices. i just read Dorian Gray for the first time a few weeks ago, i couldn't get that much into it but Wilde's writing in it is indeed very beautiful. i cracked a smile to see Bone up at #4, I had forgotten about those but they were huge for me growing up

0GuyMan0 11.22.17	Pretty prolific reader, I'm impressed. You've already got two Murakami-bombs in there, but I highly suggest you check out The Wind Up Bird Chronicle if you haven't. Its my personal favorite of his.
dbizzles 11.22.17	Started Only Revolutions today and the first chapter(?) was a bit frustrating, but I'm not giving up on it yet. Started with Sam's side. Do you recommend alternating halves by chapter or just reading one and then the other? I've read different opinions on the net.
