AsleepInTheBack 12.28.17	Daniel Striped Tiger: This thing riffs, albeit in an incredibly clumsy and haphazard manner. Fervently performed yet thoughtfully composed, ‘Condition’ captures an air of fire and spontaneity whilst not sacrificing nuance. In that sense, I think it shares alot with old school Converge, even though it is (of course) quite a different beast. Sad boi jams for days. 3.7/5. Flatsound: An absurdly melancholic record, relentlessly wallowing in its own grief in such an overblown and self-aware way that it’s actually quite charming. The way it hops around from ambient to country to lo-fi folk to emo is as unusual as it is seamless, creating something pretty special along the lines as All Human and The Newfound Interest in Connecticut. Hits all the right notes and makes my chest hurt. 4.2/5. Cloakroom: Feels about twice as long it should be, but the core of this thing is fantastic. Sucks you in and refuses to let go with a weird mix of genres: a pensive, grungy post-hardcore base, topped a splash of shoegaze here and a dab of post-rock there. Its length, coupled with its trudging pace, does make for a bit of a tiresome listen as a whole, but the individual components are stellar. 3.3/5 Which puts the scores at 1) Art: 96.3 2) Con: 92.7 3) Unique: 90.8
