The infamous Nirvana concert in Argentina

Nowadays most of the people who goes to concerts pay respect to the support band and sometimes the crowd find that they are as interesting as the main band, but this was the beginning of the hatred of support bands in our country. (I'm not overgeneralizing, since there are crowds who are very respectful towards the opening bands) Here's what happened

Nirvana played at the Velez Sarsfield stadium in Buenos Aires on october 30th of 1992. But Cobain didn't expect what happened an hour before they played.

Kurt brought the all female band Calamity Jane as the opening band. Sadly, the Argentinean crowd was either too anxious to see nirvana performing or the innecesary waiting of watching a band that nobody knew made the situtation even worst. The crowd started to throw things to Calamity Jane, and that action would affect the moment nirvana started to play.

Cobain had his revenge by making fun of the Argentine Crowd the entire performance by playing the main riff of smells like teen spirit, the problem was that the song was never performed entirely and the people got even angrier. The band opted to play material from incesticide and some songs from their future album in utero as a consequence.

Maybe we are one of the greatest crowds in the world, but from that day on, a indelible stain was made in the history of concerts of our country.. An interesting note is that Grohl started to come with the foo fighters a few years ago, but while pretending that he is in good terms with us, in the end I'm convinced that he still remembers what happened that day.
