Varg is the unholy god of crusty, haunting black metal. Nuff said. |

The dark lords of symphonic black metal are probably one of the most genious bands of all time. |
| 3 | Dimmu Borgir
I prefer older Dimmu Borhir to the newer stuff, but this band still knows how to sound sinisterly evil. |
| 4 | Hypocrisy
My favorite death metal band trends the line of black metal a lot, besides that, Peter Tagtren is a
genious. |
| 5 | In The Woods...
Let's just say I love my avant garde/ doom metal too. This is one of the few bands that really make
my day. |
| 6 | Old Man's Child
It's like Dimmu Borgir's child, even though they've been around longer then Dimmu Borgir. |
| 7 | Ulver
Old Ulver, not new Ulver. To make an album like Bergtatt at the age they were is incrdible. |
| 8 | Borknagar
I love the melody fused with harsh black metal. The catchiness is also exilerating. |
| 9 | The Absence
A new band taht plays melodic death metal that I fell in love with on first listen. |
| 10 | Isis
Atmospheres that make me orgasm. Nuff said. |
| 11 | Behemoth
I like the new music, but like the old vocals. Oh what to do? I still love Demigod though. |
| 12 | Nile
Amazing Egyptian death metal. So intense and riginal it makes me wet myself. |
| 13 | In Flames
I actually like a lot of new In Flames over old. It's just so catchy and reasonably melodic. |
| 14 | Lacuna Coil
I only own Unleashed Memories, but this band is amazing. They used to be so doom-esque, now
they're just typical darkwave. |
| 15 | Agalloch
This band is amazing in progressive black folk metal. I just love Pale Folklore to death. |

| 17 | Strapping Young Lad
Chaotic and crazy. A turn on in my book. |
| 18 | Enslaved
This band has not failed to make a near perfect album in the past 5 years. |
| 19 | Shape Of Despair
I havn't really heard a lot of their music, but what I have heard I loved enough to put on this list. |
| 20 | Swallow The Sun
