ANYTHING

You read that right, i will accept anything for this round. It can be any genre, any length, live, studio, I don't care. You got this far, you deserve to pick whatever you want.

To all competitors: Seriously, thank you. You guys have given me so many new artists to check out and showed me some really amazing stuff. You guys are all the best and truly some swell people. If I eliminated you early on, i'm truly sorry but would love if you'd do this again if i decide to make another one. I do not actually have a fruit basket but maybe you guys can decide what the winner can (realistically) win?

Anyway good luck L4t and Arch!
2The Great Old Ones
Tekeli-Li

Archelirion

“Takeli-li” was not dissimilar to scaling a tall and intimidating mountain. Songs seemed like they were beckoning something greater than themselves and place the listener on a cold and daunting summit, able to see far out in every direction. The tracks most successful of this I believed to be “The Ascend” and “Behind the Mountain” (shocker based on those names, I know). You get your fair share of fast drum kicks and guitar notes like most black metal before it but the album felt more than just that. “Takeli-li” takes influence from post metal at times; I believe this truly helped it sound original and feel more “earthy” and weighted. I’ve never truly been interested in bm, so I suppose I can say this album was like scaling a personal mountain myself. I liked it more than the majority of things i've heard in the genre but this may just be because it didn't harbor too many bm cliches. Either way, who cares, It was a fun ride.

Well then, this was definitely a change of tone coming from Takeli. “Rites of Spring” is not an attempted black metal epic of great proportions; it’s a bass-y, back-alley venue emo/hardcore record. Love the vocals here, they’re sloppy and harsh but have the strangest charm and earnestness about them. “Rites of Spring” pummels you with non-stop aggressive punk energy and often depressing lyricism, which is an interesting dynamic as a lot of the actual music and melodies themselves seem quite cheery/stage dive-y. The closing track “End on End” is exceptionally awesome and wild and what I believe to be the highlight of the record. Lastly I just have to say it’s almost baffling that this album came out in only 85, it sounds practically timeless. Sweet rec L4t.
