Top 5 albums of 2016

5 albums i really enjoyed of what many consider a pretty shit year, all the songs are incredible.
1King 810
La Petite Mort or a Conversation With God

I thought I knew what heavy meant, but this group certainly changed it.
The instrumentation, whilst incredible, serves to emphasise David's vocals, telling stories of growing up in Flint, Michigan, which feels too visceral and graphic to just be played up to sound manly.

Favourite songs:

Heavy Lies the Crown
Wolves Run Together
The Trauma Model
2Vulvodynia
Psychosadistic Design

This is, in my opinion, the south African slammers best album yet, the amazing production, the guest spots, the music itself is incredible.
My only dislike is the sample in the title track, I feel it goes on too long, leaving a song half the length it should be.

Id like to see the following guests on the next album (which they are currently writing!):

Dan Watson
Ben Duerr
Dickie Allen
The guy from Signs of the Swarm whose name Ive forgotten

Favourite songs:

Title Track
Flesh Tailor
Unparalleled Insubordination
3Sabaton
The Last Stand

Anthemic, triumphant, epic, tanks. Just a few words to describe Sabaton and this album, 11 original songs, 2 covers, plus pretty cool guest appearances by Jon Schaffer (Iced Earth, on the interlude Diary of an Unknown Soldier) and Rob Halford (Judas Priest, on their cover of All Guns Blazing)

Favourite songs:

Sparta
Blood of Bannockburn
Winged Hussars
4Shadow of Intent
Primordial

I like Deathcore, I like Halo.
Shadow of Intent is a dream come true.
Primordial is 10 songs of heavy, yet really grandiose and epic deathcore, yet features such melody and technicality that I feel deathcore isn't the right label, more along the lines of Death Metal, with some melodeath and a bit of black metal influence

Favourite songs:

The Cosmic Inquisitor
The Didacts Will
The Prelude to Bereavement
5Testament
Brotherhood of the Snake

Thrash legends deliver a solid release, with really interesting lyrical themes and brilliant production

Favourite tracks:

The Pale King
Stronghold
