| | More Movie Digs. More recommendations? | | 1 | | Cliff Martinez Only God Forgives
Only God Forgives: Though not the sequel to Drive many people were looking for, it is instead a wholly unique movie with gorgeous cinematography and lighting, along with a fantastic soundtrack which helps the neon soaked visuals glue your eyes to the screen. | | 2 | | Amon Amarth Wrath of the Norsemen
Valhalla Rising: Abstract and metaphorical yet very captivating at the same time. Thanks for the rec LordePots. | | 3 | | Integrity Those Who Fear Tomorrow
Bronson: To add to my growing fandom of Nicolas Winding Refn. Though honestly not my favorite of his, Tom Hardy's performance is mesmerizing. | | 4 | | Pharoahe Monch PTSD: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Prisoners: Loved the direction and cinematography of this film, and knockout performances from Jake Gyllenhaal and Hugh Jackman only add to the amazing quality of the film. | | 5 | | Eminem The Marshall Mathers LP
Southpaw: This movie honestly really surprised me, for a film that openly wears its cliches proudly on its sleeves it was actually pretty great. The emotional heights in this movie were very compelling, and Jake Gyllenhaal's performance took the movie to a new level, making it much more than just your typical boxing movie. | |

09.11.17 | more JakeGyll - Enemy, Nightcrawler, Zodiac | Papa Universe
09.11.17 | Brimstone - unconventionally structured Western with constant tension and one of the most repulsive and horrific villains I've ever seen in my life. It's about a woman on the run from her past...into the past (not time-travel though, don't worry).
Perfect Strangers - both hilarious and insanely intense film about one room, a couple of friends and a rule of no secrets for the night. Three couples and a friend put their phones on the table and decide to answer every text and call openly. Just what can come out of that, huh?
The Duelist - atmospheric and visually stunning period action-drama about a professional duelist and his hunt for revenge. Somewhat unusual method of explaining a storyarch and infectiously catchy sounds of old pistols. What more d'you need?
The Conspiracy - this film is a rollercoaster of tension and suspense. It starts off seemingly mildly, but gets gradually more and more insane until the final scene that is just pure nervewrecker. | Papa Universe
09.11.17 | Sound of Noise - One of the most creatively made films in recent memory. The story of musical dilettants and a man with a once-play-instruments-deafness. One of single best uses of sound to create a story.
Florida (2015 with Jean Rochefort) - Of a man with Alzheimer and his daughter struggling to deal with him.
The Illusionist (2010) - A silent animated film about an illusionist and a young girl, both trying to find their place in the world.
Dom Hemigway - Hilarious film about an arsehole who spent a dozen years in prison and is now back in the outer world trying to reconcile with his friends and estranged daughter. It's funny and stars Jude Law and Emilia Clarke.
Borgman - A little creepy and definitely weird in all the right ways. A film about a professional group of hobo maniacs and their technique of invading homes and infiltrating the families... weird, aye?
Day for Night - Somewhat satirical look at Hollywood on-set drama. It's sweet and funny.
The Science of Sleep - Avant-garde and surreal practical-visual-effects galore about a man unable to distinguish dreams from reality, gradually falling in love and losing control over his obscure condition.
The Suicide Shop - French animated musical about a world, in which suicide is both forbidden and number one cause of death. There's a family-owned store with all sorts of accessoires for personal death-bringing.
The Boy and the Beast - Fantastic anime about a human boy in a world of odd creatures. It's the brutal kind of whimsy and the whimsical kind of brutal. | Papa Universe
09.11.17 | Also, I never understood why people dislike Only God Forgives so much. I thought it to be quite a treat. | JZW1997
09.11.17 | Loved Nightcrawler, Zodiac and Enemy. | butcherboy
09.11.17 | everything Unique said, except Dom Hemingway.. also, God Forgives is a pointless exercise in surface artistic fapping.. | Papa Universe
09.11.17 | Everything butcher said until "except...", then it's just a load of crap. | butcherboy
09.11.17 | God Forgives is a perfect example of an organic kombucha truck operator with a man bun and a Kurosawa fetish being allowed to make a movie.. Nonsense | Papa Universe
09.11.17 | My thumbs are too sore to type a valid argument on my phone, so let's just say 'to each their own' and yadidadida... | butcherboy
09.11.17 | no, you're wrong.. one of the worst films in recent memory.. and I've got a great memory | Papa Universe
09.12.17 | Well, you remember most of the Fall's career to be decent, so your memory might be affected by senility a little. | butcherboy
09.12.17 | Last Fall album and that movie pretty much walk hand in hand.. Ghost of something that may be good cradled deep in the anus of nonsense | tempest--
09.12.17 | haha excellent JZW.. how about Bone Tomahawk, Moon, Under the Skin |
