Damn, what a weird fucking year man. I usually do one of these every quarter of the year, but this year since i'm in my first year of Uni (BA, Psyc major) I've been real slow on my roll of new releases. This is cool fucking bananas. Approximately a Danny Brown, De La Soul and We Got the Power off of an AOTY contender. I get what Damon was trying to do with this but the sonic decisions worked better in concept. To demonstrate this, the album fucking destroys live, the live instruments just carry more energy and fill in the gap that feels like it's missing out of the middle of the recordings. Not in like a "hurr durr rael instumentzzz" way. |
